He has served on the faculty of the University of Washington and as Hematology Section Chief at the University of Washington Medical Center. Named Helen M. He has served as Senior Lecturer at the Middlesex Hospital and was appointed to a Chair of Hematology at UCL; he took up the leadership of the Department of Hematology in 1992 and from 2004 to 2007 was the Chairman of the Division of Cancer Medicine at UCL.
