This is without doubt one of the best books I have had the pleasure of reading that covers the clinical and technical role of ultrasound in this particular field of medical imaging. Ò€¦ it should prove of particular value to clinical and ultrasound personnel as part of their education in respect of reproductive medicine. A very worthwhile read for all and I remain very grateful for the opportunity to review this excellent book. (Bill Smith, RAD Magazine, March, 2015)

Description

Recently, the field of nuclear medicine has witnessed an unprecedented explosion of new clinical diagnostic tracers, radionuclide therapies, hardware, and molecular imaging paradigms. This second edition of RadCases Plus Q&A Nuclear Medicine by Daniel Appelbaum, John Miliziano, Anup Jacob Alexander, and Yong Bradley reflects these advances, presenting 100 new cases and 500 high-quality images. The book covers a wide spectrum, from classic topics, such as thyroid, bone, parathyroid, and renal scans, to the paradigm-shifting concept of “theranostics.” For maximum ease of self-assessment, each case begins with the clinical presentation on the right-hand page; study that and then turn the page for imaging findings, differential diagnoses with the definitive diagnosis, essential facts, pearls and pitfalls, and more.

This book will benefit providers of acute medicine in all the core disciplines. Experienced practitioners will enjoy the perspectives in these reviews while students will find an effective introduction to topics selected to reflect latest advances in the field. Ò€¦ As COVID-19 dominates much of contemporary medical literature, this book describes recent developments outside that topic in clinical and basic research, supporting the broad practice of acute care for the internist, anesthesiologist, surgeon, pediatrician, and emergency medicine provider. Description

In this book, Electrical Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Neurological Disorders, the authors present their embodiment for a closed loop, feedback controlled, non-invasive application of electrical stimulation of the brain to enhance individual/group performance or to treat neurological disorders. Using a combination of modeling and experimental work, the authors have developed a unique approach to the field in combination with new technology from the perspectives of electro-magnetic and electrical engineering, computation of image processing, machine learning and neural networking, and in conjunction with the medicine of neurology and understanding of neuron behavior. They claim that non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) will provide new treatment methods with much greater simplicity, lower cost, improved safety, and in some cases, possibly greater effectiveness than well-established pharmacological methods or more recent invasive electrical deep brain stimulation (DBS) techniques.

Description

Over the last 25 years, the advances in ultrasound have paralleled advances in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). ART could not even be practiced or considered today without imaging. Ultrasound has become the most important and widely used tool in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. Ultrasound evaluation is one of the first steps to assess the cause of infertility; the three areas of evaluation are the ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Ultrasound allows physicians to diagnose ovarian reserve but also pathologies such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, or other ovarian cysts that can impact fertility. The results of this initial exam immediately affect the decisions in the management of the patient’s condition. When fertility treatments begin, ultrasound is used in almost any interaction with the patient in order to monitor follicular development and endometrial response; ultrasound guidance is also vital for embryo retrieval and transfer (ET).
