Great book. I teach lab science and this book has been a wonderful supplement to the text books. This book describes in detail how things like improper centrifugation can affect lab results. Also it points out lab values that are “incompatible with life” and when those results do or do not make sense. Helpful case studies are sprinkled throughout.

This is an excellent student guide from Wiley. It is quite a small book considering the amount of information it contains. There are 36 procedures covered in here and the although it is an overview, there is still good, detailed information on the rationale for the procedure as well as the actual process itself, along with details on what ls needed and and any problems that might arise. Perfect for both nursing and medical students. I was particularly interested in the chapter on arterial blood gas sampling – something I have yet experience successfully. Not one doctor has been able to do anything other than create massive bruises – and, on one agonising occasion, hit a nerve instead of the artery. I’d love to send this book to all of them!

I’ve been an RN for 30 years. I work in the OR and ER and was in the Army Reserves Nurse Corps for 8 years. After my last deployment, I decided to take a couple years off from nursing, a well-deserved break. Well two years turned into 5 and now I have to take a refresher course to renew my license. This is the required text. Honestly expected it to be more expensive. The material is well written and organized in an excellent manner (unlike other texts that I’ve utilized in the past). I got it in less than 48 hours. I chose the paperback version as it’s easier to write notes.

Description

This book is a comprehensive guide to contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), a novel advanced mammography technique using dual-energy mammography in combination with intravenous contrast administration in order to increase the diagnostic performance of digital mammography. Readers will find helpful information on the principles of CEM and indications for the technique. Detailed attention is devoted to image interpretation, with presentation of case examples and highlighting of pitfalls and artifacts. Other topics to be addressed include the establishment of a CEM program, the comparative merits of CEM and MRI, and the roles of CEM in screening populations and monitoring of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. CEM became commercially available in 2011 and is increasingly being used in clinical practice owing to its superiority over full-field digital mammography. This book will be an ideal source of knowledge and guidance for all who wish to start using the technique or to learn more about it.
