Description

This book offers a guide to common dermatologic conditions most often treated by primary care providers. Most dermatologic disorders in the United States are treated by primary care physicians, and yet primary care training programs do not prioritize dermatology. This easy-to-use reference answers that need with practical recommendations for diagnosing and treating these common diseases along with a number of illustrative color images. Throughout, chapters are either organized by population and the dermatologic conditions common to those groups or diseases commonly encountered in primary care. Populations covered include children, pregnant women, and athletes, and common diseases covered include dermatitis, warts, herpes, psoriasis, and some skin cancers. This is an essential resource for primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners who treat dermatologic conditions in their daily practice.

Description

Germ cell tumors are relatively rare compared with other malignancies, and compilations of knowledge that encompass the entire spectrum of the disease are lacking. This textbook, written by the foremost authorities in the field, rectifies the situation by discussing in depth a broad range of topics, including biology, epidemiology, pathology, treatment, and late effects. Bearing in mind that germ cell tumors are most prevalent in the adolescent and young adult age group, causes of disease and treatment approaches in pediatric and adult patients are compared and contrasted. By spanning the entire life course, from prenatal origins of disease through to treatment in adults and late effects of treatment, the editors have produced a book that will be of interest to both pediatric and adult oncologists.

Description

Much of clinical psychology relies upon cognitive behavior therapy to treat clinical disorders via attempting to change thinking and feeling in order to change behavior. Functional approaches differ in that they focus on context and the environmental influence on behavior, thoughts, and feelings. This second edition of Functional Analysis in Clinical Treatment updates the material in keeping with DSM-5 and ICD-10 and provides 40% new information, including updated literature reviews, greater detail in the functional analysis/assessment sections of each chapter, two new chapters on autism spectrum disorders and chronic health problems, and examples of worked assessments, such as interview transcripts, ABC charts, and observational data.

The ‘At a Glance’ range is certainly amongst the very best dip into medical books currently on the market. They are all compiled and contributed to by medical professionals many of whom are still in practice. The layout is excellent with colour coded boxes denoting text into subsections and accompanied by very clearly labelled pictures and diagrams. This book is an extremely well researched and presented book for those working in or studying within the dentistry profession and it is also very accessible and interesting for those not working within the field who may have an interest in the subject.

The book is intended for practitioners who provide care of patients with chronic pain, this is not ever directly addressed. Ò€¦ this first edition book provides a detailed and thorough guide to the use of ultrasound for chronic pain procedures with many useful figures in each chapter. (T. Description

Bone loss is still a major issue that dentists encounter, but it is a complication that can be prevented. By combining clinical experience with peer-reviewed scientific evidence, the author of this book has put together a guide that any implant specialist will find invaluable to prevent bone loss in their patients. Different strategies are presented that can be used to achieve zero bone loss years after treatment. Because successful treatment depends on both the surgical and prosthetic components, the book is divided into two parts, each focusing in depth on what must be done in each phase to promote bone stability. Case presentations detail many types of clinical situations, implant choices, and prosthetic solutions, all backed by evidence-based clinical studies that have proven success. 1,231 illustrations Contents: Section I: Surgical Concepts 1. Surgical Factors for Establishing Crestal Bone Stability 2. Implant Design Factors 3. Implant Placement Depth 4. Vertical Soft Tissue Thickness 5. Subcrestal Implant Placement 6. Flattening of the Alveolar Ridge 7. The Tent-Pole Technique 8. Vertical Soft Tissue Augmentation 9. Attached Tissues Around Dental Implants 10. Practical Recommendations for Implant Placement Section II: Prosthetic Concepts 11. Prosthetic Factors for Maintaining Crestal Bone Stability 12. Considerations for Cement-Retained Restorations 13. Cement/Screw-Retained Restorations 14. Titanium Base Solutions for Fixed Partial Dentures 15. Abutment Alternatives 16. Influence of the Emergence Profile 17. Prosthetic Materials 18. It goes without saying that this textbook is a wonderful source of important, concise information.

The question, of course, is whether or not the eTextbook version is readily searchable. Judging from the preview available, one would conclude that this ebook is NOT readily searchable from the TOC; however, I took the gamble (after contacting Amazon and arranging for a refund if I did not like it on my Kindle or PC) and discovered that the table of contents is very searchable. On my Kindle, the individual sections are easily obtained by tapping at the top margin, hitting “Go to” ,and then swiping up or down at the bottom of the page. Each chapter is then obtained by turning the page forward and back in the usual way, and then just tap on the desired selection. On my desktop PC, the individual sections in the TOC are readily obtained by clicking on the TOC icon in the upper left. The individual chapters are then displayed to see and click on.

There is an index at the end, which can easily be fast-forwarded on my PC, but the slide-bar at the bottom on my Kindle requires a fine touch. Very happy!

Book is correct edition and loose-leaf as expected. However, the flimsy barely strong enough packaging (which is used for almost all loose-leaf books) was an instant disaster. I wish there was a better way of packaging these books so that they do not end up in a big mess when delivered… especially if there are a few hundred pages.

Description

Spermatogenesis involves the coordination of a number of signaling pathways, which culminate into production of sperm. Its failure results in male factor infertility, which can be due to hormonal, environmental, genetic or other unknown factors. This book includes chapters on most of the signaling pathways known to contribute to spermatogenesis. Latest research in germ cell signaling like the role of small RNAs in spermatogenesis is also discussed. This book aims to serve as a reference for both clinicians and researchers, explaining possible causes of infertility and exploring various treatment methods for management through the basic understanding of the role of molecular signaling.
