Description

Neurosurgery Primary Examination Review: High Yield Questions, Answers, Diagrams, and Tables by Amgad S. Hanna addresses the knowledge gaps in currently existing neurosurgical board study guides. It is based on a collection of highly effective practice questions previously administered to neurosurgical residents at the University of Wisconsin. Each chapter covers two to three topics with 60 multiple choice and matching questions and only one correct answer. The reader-friendly content and layout make it easy to organize and review the complex subject matter in preparation for the ABNS written exam or for educational review.

Description

This text addresses many of the questions which occur when medical professionals of various disciplines interact and have different plans and interventions, each with its own valid scientific and/or experience-based rationale: Questions involving tourniquet placement, ideal fluids and volumes for resuscitation, VTE prophylaxis and many other management considerations. Straightforward decisions in the patient with a single diagnosis often conflict when applied to the neurologically injured polytrauma patients.

This book is used as a text book for a BSN program. The author’s personal politics should not be embedded in the context of such a book. The author insinuates that President Trump and his administration are responsible for inaccurate or incomplete information regarding immigrant children. Children entering our country illegally is a major problem. It is a complex issue that can not be corrected simply by saying they should stay with their parents or let’s build them shelters. Many, many of these children are being trafficked. Many, many of these supposed “parents” are not parents and are part of an even larger issue. I wish the world was filled with rainbows and butterflies and we could simply say, “yes, all please cross our borders and we will take care of you!” Look at the disaster at the border now! Our country is in danger and that means our children and immigrant children are in ever greater danger! Pat answers and finger pointing are not solutions. I am extremely dismayed that this diatribe made it into our textbook.

Description

This book elucidates a number of new concepts on P-wave evaluation and QRS depolarization properties, and reports on several repolarization findings never covered in previous ECG books. The content is primarily based on case reports, some of which are compared in order to reveal their ostensibly small but significant differences. The book addresses a significant and lingering gap in ECG interpretation, which is the actual cause of many poor decisions in the diagnostic and therapeutic contexts. Further, the book has an interdisciplinary appeal, and will be of equal interest to professionals and scholars with an interest in cardiology and ECG interpretation.

Description

This manual for diagnostic cytologists offers detailed guidance on diagnostic problems likely to be encountered in everyday practice. It encompasses exfoliative and aspiration cytology of all major nongynecologic body sites. Each chapter opens with an algorithm that presents the reader with the relevant microscopic findings, the most important additional findings, and the differential diagnostic possibilities and problems in a clear and easily remembered form. Another important feature is the wealth of high-quality color photomicrographs, which clearly document the visual appearances of the most important lesions and highlight the differential diagnostic difficulties. The accompanying text contains helpful general remarks and presents further relevant information on diagnostics, differential diagnostic procedures, and auxiliary methods. Besides established cytologists and pathologists, cytopathologists in training and cytotechnologists will find this book to be a valuable aid.
