⭐Its a good atlas of the eye, with comprehensive explanations of eye diseases.Ive seen other ones, and believe this is the best available.

⭐Very useful revision of the basics necessary for a working knowledge of ophthalmology for the ED SHO or the GPR.Med Students may need to supplement this with something covering the anatomy and pathophysiology of eye diseases a little more, but for the non specialist this is a useful, practical book with OK pictures (a little repetitive with the same pictures used for the same condition through the book)

⭐Nice book for starters in ophthalmology

⭐Comprehensive but lacks the colour definition – something I did not think about -without colour – I wish I had stuck to a book

⭐ABC of OphthalmologyUNFORTUNATELY as of 16.01.13 the ‘Kindle Version’ is COMPLETELY IN BLACK & WHITE (B&W)including the PHOTOGRAPHS! BUYER BEWARE!Hopefully with the NEXT Edition Wiley/BMJ will do a COLOUR VERSION for KINDLE FIRE HD PLEASE? THANK YOU

⭐I ordered a New book but I received an old one.In the chapter 8 there are clear traces of pen underlining words, clear evidence that somebody else used the book before.I think this is totally uncorrect.Dr Claudio Malara from Italy

⭐Dr. Colvard has assembled a highly experienced group of cataract surgeons to produce this text which will help to hasten the learning process for many surgeons. They have created both a concise, practical, and insightful book and an excellent instructional video on cataract surgery. This effort will benefit both beginning residents and more experienced practitioners, and it will ultimately benefit the patients we are privileged to serve.

⭐The concise presentation of the comprehensive experience and wisdom illustrated within this text resets the lofty standards of ophthalmic textbooks. The historical perspectives, clear explanation of each step of phacoemulsification surgery, as well as the underlying rationale for these details create a valuable educational resource for the novice ophthalmic surgeon and a gratifying review for the more experienced.

Adenovirus Epithelial Keratitis and Thygeson’s Superficial Punctate Keratitis: In Vivo Morphology in the Human Cornea 2012th Edition (2012) by Helena M. Tabery PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2012
  • Number of pages: 141 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 16.73 MB
  • Authors: Helena M. Tabery

Description

Despite differences in frequency, causation, and infectivity, adenovirus epithelial keratitis and Thygeson’s superficial punctate keratitis (TSPK) are often confused in clinical practice owing to the similarity between adenovirus epithelial infiltrates and ‘coarse’ epithelial TSPK lesions. This book presents the morphological features, dynamics, and sequelae of adenovirus and Thygeson’s keratitides captured at high magnification in the living human cornea. It thereby fills the existing void between conventional photographs and slit-lamp observations. Case reports demonstrate the importance of patient history in differential diagnosis, illustrate the need for familiarity with early manifestations of adenovirus infections, and assist in the diagnosis of rare variants of TSPK. Furthermore, the detailed observations on the natural course of the diseases ensure that the book will serve not only as a diagnostic tool but also as a reference when evaluating the effects of potential new treatments.

Adequate Hla Matching in Keratoplasty (Developments in Ophthalmology) 1st Edition (2003) by Rainer Sundmacher PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2003
  • Number of pages: 100 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 0.39 MB
  • Authors: Rainer Sundmacher

Description

`Immunologic privilege’ of the cornea and anterior chamber has, in most cases, been believed to be a sufficient guarantee for survival of the donor cornea. If this failed, it was thought that adjunctive immunomodulating agents would compensate. But the question of how to care for better tolerance and safer long-term survival of corneal grafts after withdrawal of a potent immunomodulating shield still remained unanswered. The answer is human leukocyte antigens (HLA) matching. In this volume, immunological and clinical aspects are discussed by renowned clinical and experimental immunologists as well as experienced keratoplasty surgeons. These experts conclude that HLA matching is, in fact, a valuable adjunct for long-term survival of corneal grafts not only in those at high risk but notably also in patients at normal risk. This volume opens new pathways towards the successful application of HLA matching to keratoplasty surgeons, experimental and clinical immunologists and cornea bank officers, at the same time acting as an aid to ophthalmologists when finding the basis to adequately advise their keratoplasty patients.

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2019
  • Number of pages: 584 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 49.46 MB
  • Authors: David F. Chang

Description

Abnormal or deficient capsular anatomy creates numerous surgical challenges and predisposes eyes to IOL complications. Literally dozens of different approaches have been devised to implant IOLs in the face of compromised capsular support. However, a comprehensive compendium of the most important surgical strategies has not existed, until now.Advanced IOL Fixation Techniques:Strategies for Compromised or Missing Capsular Support provides this much-needed resource with more than 70 different chapters that cover the wide array of surgical approaches. Among the contributors are many of the original innovators of the most important technologies and methodologies. In addition to teaching a specific surgical technique, these authors cover its history, rationale, and clinical results. Editor Dr. David F. Chang is well known and acclaimed for 2 best-selling cataract textbooks―Mastering Refractive IOLs and Phaco Chop and Advanced Phaco Techniques. Along with associate editors Drs. Bryan S. Lee and Amar Agarwal, Dr. Chang has now tackled this new major subject area―how to best fixate IOLs when capsular support is compromised or absent.Part One covers capsular fixation with either zonulopathy or following posterior capsule rupture. Topics include using conventional and modified capsular tension rings, capsular tension segments or capsular anchors, standard and reverse optic capture with anterior capsulorrhexis, sulcus fixation, posterior capsulorrhexis, and capsular membrane suture fixation. Part Two covers noncapsular fixation. Topics include anterior chamber IOLs, iris claw IOLs, iris and transscleral suture fixation of posterior chamber IOLs, and intrascleral haptic fixation using the Yamane double-needle or glued IOL methods.Part Three covers miscellaneous topics such as anterior vitrectomy, IOL power calculation for noncapsular IOLs, and sliding slip knots and suture pupilloplasty. To facilitate skills transfer, most chapters present detailed, step-by-step descriptions of the different techniques. The maneuvers are illustrated by over 1,100 diagrams and high-resolution surgical images. Finally, nearly every chapter is accompanied by narrated instructional videos. Combining over 150 videos, schematic diagrams, surgical images, and detailed written descriptions, Advanced IOL Fixation Techniques provides the most effective way to learn advanced surgical techniques. With its comprehensive and practical approach to covering the gamut of strategies and devices, Advanced IOL Fixation Techniques:Strategies for Compromised or Missing Capsular Support will be an indispensable resource for cataract surgeons at all levels of experience.
