Description

Glaucoma is a term used to describe many different eye diseases which gradually weaken and reduce vision, often without outward symptoms. Most forms of glaucoma are caused by a problem with drainage within the eye, and there are a number of different recognised types. Despite all our available medical advances, unfortunately as yet loss of vision from glaucoma is irreversible. In this book the editors have compiled 17 chapters on the most up to date glaucoma surgery worldwide, including laser treatment, implants and non-penetrative surgery. As the editors themselves say – ‘even though we still do not fully understand the mechanisms and genetic background to the conditions known as glaucoma, we are able to offer palliative and sometime curable therapies.’ Thus the book provides essential information to ophthalmic surgeons and practitioners who need to update and maintain their knowledge and skills when combating the multitude of glaucoma problems. Also available: Atlas of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2nd Edition – ISBN 1904798330 Comprehensive Ophthalmology – ISBN 1905740786Anshan Publishers is a publisher of fine medical, scientific, and technical books. Atlas of Inherited Retinal Diseases (Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology, 1085) (2018) by Stephen H. Tsang PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2018
  • Number of pages: 293 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 31.1 MB
  • Authors: Stephen H. Tsang

Description

This Atlas of Inherited Retinal Disorders provides a thorough overview of various inherited retinal dystrophies with emphasis on phenotype characteristics and how they relate to the most frequently encountered genes. It also meets the previously unmet needs of PhD students who will benefit from seeing the phenotypes of genes they work on and study. Further, because genetic-testing costs are quite high and spiraling higher, this Atlas will help geneticists familiarize themselves with the candidate gene approach to test patients’ genomes, enabling more cost-efficient testing. This invaluable atlas is organized into eight sections starting with an introduction to the basic knowledge on retinal imaging, followed by diseases listed according to inheritance pattern and disorders with extraocular manifestations grouped by defining features. This structure will be intuitive to clinicians and students studying inherited retinal disorders.

⭐good product, normally be deliverd next week, but i have received today.

⭐With a lot of IRDs being very rare it is hard to get a grasp of clinical pictures, concepts, and pathophysiology. This book patches up all those knowledge gaps and gives great overviews and new insights into IRDs. A fantastic purchase!

⭐Well organized and easy to find information in a pinch. Concise, clear information to help introduce each topic in this complicated field. Would recommend for any beginner in the inherited retinal diseases or anyone looking to refine their knowledge. The retinal imaging ensures that the reader will truly appreciate the genotype-phenotype correlations of each mutation.

⭐I have just began my position as a clinical research coordinator in the department of ophthalmology, and this book is truly a life-saver. The breadth of topics covered in this book is amazing, and it has really helped me to get an extensive understanding of this field. The pictures are truly parallel to none with detailed clinical characterizations from various imaging modalities. If you need a background in IRD, this book will be your bread and butter. Highly recommend.

⭐Outstanding genotype and phenotype correlations! for geneticists, pediatricians and ophthalmologists!

⭐Terrible print quality, unreadable. Returned immediately.

Description

Written by an expert in the field, this book is a comprehensive and up-to-date guide to the evaluation and management of lacrimal drainage disorders. Lacrimal disorders are one of the most common conditions encountered not only by oculoplastic surgeons and general ophthalmologists, but also by otorhinolaryngologists in their daily practice. Consisting of 77 chapters, it addresses the basic anatomy and underlying pathology, patient evaluation, and the surgical procedures currently performed in managing various lacrimal disorders. Surgical modalities including the endoscopic approaches are thoroughly and succinctly captured in pictures with detailed legends to aid understanding and offer a visual treat. Since familiarity with a surgical technique is incomplete without the knowledge of risk factors and red flags, the book discusses in detail how to deal with surgical complications and failure. The Atlas of Lacrimal Drainage Disorders is an essential companion to the author’s previous work “Principles and Practice of Lacrimal Surgery”..

⭐The book is okay, however only as base tutorial. If you want an advanced tutorial tutorial, buy something else.

⭐Arrived today, so haven’t read it yet, but ….The print quality is really poor. The side margins are really narrow which makes it hard to read the text near the spine. The margin at the top is also too narrow – in places the page numbers and headers are partially cut off – it’s as if the pages are too big for the book! It’s very strange!I’m also a little disappointed that despite having relatively lengthy chapters on extraocular muscles and eyelids, there are merely three pages on the retina. Seems a little disproportionate! All in all, a real shame – if this book was better quality and had more on the retina, it would be perfect. On some websites this book retails for >£100, I’d be seriously unhappy with my purchase.
