Description

Cerebral visual disorders have far-reaching consequences for child development. These have profound adverse effects on children’s education and success in school and also in later life, but, unfortunately, cerebral visual disorders often remain undiagnosed and untreated in the pediatric population. This book provides a state-of-the-art account of what is known about the development and disorders of visual perception in children. It covers the development and disorders of visual perception in children, their assessment, early intervention and management in an interdisciplinary context, both from a scientific as well as clinical perspective. Case studies illustrate the recommended assessment and rehabilitation procedures; synopses, boxes and check-lists complement the presentation of our recommendations for clinical practice.

⭐Cerebral Visual Impairment is little understood by many and affected children often goes undiagnosed or even misdiagnosed. It impacts upon many areas of an affected person’s life and can have devastating consequences if unrecognised. This comprehensive work not only covers in depth what is known about the development and disorders of visual perception in children, but assessment, intervention and management of the condition.Much can be done to support affected children and their families. The case studies provide a particularly helpful means of illustrating this. This book should be a compulsory part of curricular reading for all involved in the assessment of children, from medics, educational psychologists to all therapeutic disciplines.

⭐This is a great book by Zihl and Dutton written in simple, lucid language and providing insights into the complex neurological phenomena that these patients have. If one is working in a pediatric neuro-ophthalmology set-up, this book is a ‘must have”!

⭐Great book. Very helpful in explaining the implications of the damage due to premature birth. More people need to understand these since so many little ones are being born earlier and earlier. My very bright grandson has been affected by injury to his brain at birth and it has been taxing discovering how to help him. Because his problems are not immediately obvious people often underestimate his abilities. If I had known a lot of this information earlier he would be in a better place now he is 21.

⭐I couldn’t wait to receive my book. Got so much great feedback from other colleagues. When it came and I looked through it everything that was said was on point. If you are looking to passing your state exam the 1st time here’s your guide.

⭐Great book to get ready to take the test. Everything is explained and the questions are the same ones as they ask in the test.

⭐Very informative and helpful

⭐I am still studying this guide in preparation for the COA exam. I was surprised how thorough and in detail it is. I find it especially helpful to have the reason the answers are either incorrect or correct, instead of just the correct answer. This will help me to be especially mindful of the way questions are worded on the exam. I definitely recommend it for anyone who is going to take the COA exam. Will have to get back to you after I take it to see if it really paid off in the end 😀

⭐I purchased this book to help me prepare for my COA exam. It was broken down into the chapters that JCAHPO has on the exam, the heaviest weighted chapters having the most test questions. I feel that by using this book along with the 9th edition of The Ophthalmic Assistant: A Text for Allied and Associated Ophthalmic Personell helped me pass the COA on the first try. This manual phrased the questions almost identically to the questions on the actual exam, and even better, has an answer guide at the end of each chapter explaining why the answer is correct. You can’t go wrong buying this book when preparing for the exam.

⭐Awesome book to help you study for your COA. I love how when it gives you the correct answer at the end of each chapter it explains why it is the correct answer.

⭐I bought this book to study for my COA. The practice questions in here are perfect to practice for the test

⭐Some of the question found in the book touched on topics that I did not see in my text book and I find myself researching them and continually learning things I should have known. Any student would be amiss not to purchase this book if they need to do their certification soon.I personally feel that this book is worth every penny that I paid for it and more. This is a must have study guide and I will give another review of this book as soon as I get my certification.

⭐Great reference

Chemical Ocular Burns: New Understanding and Treatments 2011th Edition (2011) by Norbert Schrage PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2011
  • Number of pages: 133 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 4.57 MB
  • Authors: Norbert Schrage

Description

More than 25,000 chemical products have the potential to cause ocular burns. Because such burns can result in loss of sight or the need for corneal transplantation, they must be taken very seriously. This book is the first to be devoted entirely to chemical ocular burns. All aspects of the subject are covered, including history, epidemiology, chemical agents and reactions, histology, pathophysiology, clinical signs, medical and surgical treatments, and emergency care. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms involved in ocular burns and to the links between the chemical reactivity of corrosive agents and the clinical manifestations. Current principles of decontamination are fully explained and the latest treatment techniques are discussed in detail. This book stands at the interface of the chemical and medical sciences. It will be of great practical value to ophthalmologists and doctors in emergency medical and burns units, and will acquaint chemists with the clinical consequences of corrosivity.

⭐The book is written by consultants of Prevor who sells the product DIPHOTERINE (r). In the last chapter, it is said that the rinsing with water is contra-indicated after one minute, which is an almost criminal advice (ask any center specialized in chemical burns). Of course, they advise rinsing with Diphoterine®. The Whole book is written in function of this conclusion. It is a shame that this is sold as a “scientific” book!

⭐As simple as you can make a rather complex subject. Enough depth to meet the needs of any clinician, superb illustrations, most appropriate clinical application notes. This is the best anatomy book of the visual system for clinicians I have seen. It is primarily an anatomy book with an appropriate amount of physiology for an anatomy book. If you need more get a physiology text. Great achievement Dr. Robinson. Thanks for your efforts.C. Parker III O.D.

⭐This book has been super helpful in my study of ocular anatomy. There are plenty of good pictures, and the reading is fairly easy to understand. The only possible downside (which is kind of an upside as well), is that the reading is structured almost more like a glossary. So there’s not a lot of fluff to side track you, but it’s also pretty heavy reading with a lot of information per page.

⭐Dr. Remington has done a great job with the layout of this text book. It has great pictures to focus on while reading the sometimes overwhelming text. The clinical cases in the book are also great and give you an immediate understanding of why the anatomy that you are learning is so important.

⭐This is an incredibly comprehensive book for the eye. Make learning the ins and outs so much easier. Best purchase I made for school.

⭐I found this book by Dr. Remington to be a good quick review of ocular anatomy and physiology.

⭐This book is pristine! It arrived exactly as promised. Very happy with this purchase. Need it for school starting 3 September

⭐The edition before this book was good, but this edition is even better and supplements more details that NBEO Part 1 covers. I read this to study for boards, and would recommend it to other optometry students too.

⭐Well it’s anice book. I would first memrize some anatomy from an anatomy book then go to this book and read about the physiology part. It is a condensed review type book. I have not entered optometry school yet so my backround knowledge is limited on the eye. This book therefore in my case has alot of terms that I had to keep flipping back to the pictures to remind myself what was being taught. I recommend this to someone who has either a good anatomy book with (good pictures) as a reference or a good knowledge of the anatomy of the eye and it’s components. That being said, this book lacks suffiecient drawings/pictures. It is a thin book(about the thickness of my pinky.)

⭐El libro es muy completo, muy bien explicado, las imágenes están muy bien conseguidas y quedan bastante claras. Pero el principal problema del libro es el excesivo precio para la cantidad de páginas que posee.

⭐Suitable for in-depth study of the subject.the writings are concise yet upto the expectation and picture helps alot in in-depth understanding.it is highly recommended in that it does not give unnecessary copy paste from other source and book.

⭐Every optometry student’s must have….

⭐Really pleased with quality if product, excellent buy

Clinical Anatomy of the Eye 2nd Edition (2043) by Richard S. Snell PDF

Ebook Info

  • Number of pages: 432 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 88.82 MB
  • Authors: Richard S. Snell

Description

Clinical Anatomy of the Eye has proved to be a very popular textbook for ophthalmologists and optometrists in training all over the world. The objective of the book is to provide the reader with the basic knowledge of anatomy necessary to practice ophthalmology. It is recognised that this medical speciality requires a detailed knowledge of the eyeball and the surrounding structures. The specialist’s knowledge should include not only gross anatomic features and their development, but also the microscopic anatomy of the eyeball and the ocular appendages. The nerve and blood supply to the orbit, the autonomic innervation of the orbital structures, the visual pathway, and associated visual reflexes should receive great emphasis. The practical application of anatomic facts to ophthalmology has been emphasised throughout this book in the form of Clinical Notes in each chapter. Clinical problems requiring anatomic knowledge for their solution are presented at the end of each chapter. Illustrations are kept simple and overview drawings of the distribution of the cranial and autonomic nerves have been included.

⭐Book is very helpful in studying the anatomy of the eye, I can see where my lecturers get their images from.

⭐This is the book for all those people who find the need to cover a lot of ophthalmic anatomy (with good sections on neuroanatomy) in a relatively short space of time. For all those people who’ve taken one look at Wolff and run screaming for the hills. Whether you’re studying for a masters, for the anatomy primary in ophthalmology or maybe even doing optometry, this is a great book. Good diagrams, focussed chapters and clear writing all stand out. There’s not so much detail that you drown in it (like Wolff) but it’s also not so light that you feel the need to look everything up in a bigger book – although some things will require a bit more searching in other books.Small enough to digest, big enough to get a good understanding of the anatomy. For everyone looking for a place to start with ophthalmic anatomy, START HERE!!!

⭐Good condition

⭐For opthamology exams it is far too brief, but excellent for an overview of the subject when “Wolff’s Anatomy” is getting a bit heavy.

⭐The photos are of poor quality. In 2017, a 100 dollar book should have HD photos that one can read and understand.Text is immaculate. I’ve been a fan of this book since 1999.

⭐Book doesnt look like the photo but it’s the same book. It came in about two weeks. Great read so far.

⭐couple errors i found, but a good text for studying for part 1 exams

⭐great book

⭐This book has enough detail to allow me to really grasp, understand, and retain the information. 400 or so pages seemed a lot to read for neuro-ophthalmologic anatomy, but because the subject is logically laid out and clearly written, I actually find it much easier to digest than some of the others I’ve tried. I am mastering eye anatomy using Snell’s Clinical Anatomy of the Eye.

⭐Good value

⭐The ultimate A&P book for ophthalmology, very useful if this is your specialist area of practise. Very happy that I also managed to get it at such a reasonable price!

⭐Useful book for FRCOphth Part 1 revision.
