⭐Must have

⭐Just as advertised!

⭐The book is amazing. I cannot evaluate the e-book, as 1 month after I bought it I was not given the access to the right book… The technical support was not able to fix this yet… It’s really a shame as the book is the best reference in this subject and I intended to use it more in my iPad that the book itself.

⭐Must have for Ocular Oncology Atlas, by Dr. Shields & Dr. Shields.

  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 5.14 MB

Description

This book explains how to use intravitreal steroids optimally in the management of patients with intraocular inflammation (uveitis) and macular edema. The rationale for this treatment approach is first explained by examining the pathophysiology of these disease entities, with particular attention to the major role of inflammatory processes. Devices for the delivery of steroids to the eye are discussed, and guidance provided on the role of imaging studies before, during, and after steroid therapy. The value of different steroidal approaches is then considered in detail. Other topics addressed include the use of steroids as a surgical adjunct and within a combination strategy. Uveitis and macular edema are common sight-threatening diseases or complications of diabetes and retinal vein occlusion for which no adequate treatment was available until recently. Both trainees and practitioners will find Intravitreal Steroids to be an invaluable aid in combating these blinding diseases.

Optics and Optical Instruments: An Introduction (2011) by B. K. Johnson PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2011
  • Number of pages: 256 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 1.79 MB
  • Authors: B. K. Johnson

Description

This book illustrates basic practical applications of optical principle. Working models of telescopes, microscopes, photographic lenses, and optical projection systems are diagrammed and explained in full, as are the basic experiments for determining accuracy, power, angular field of view, amount of aberration, and all other necessary facts about the instrument. Throughout the book, only elementary mathematics is used, for the benefit of the student and the beginner in the field of optics. The author, an assistant professor at the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London, shows how to set up working models of each of the four types of instruments named above, so that the reader can see for himself the effects of changing the focal length, using different types of lenses, rotating the lens, and other experiments. He also includes a number of experiments to illustrate theoretical principles such as the reflection and refraction of light and focal length measurements of concave and convex lenses.A chapter on the human eye follows, and the author explains how to set up a simple working model of the eye in order to illustrate myopia, astigmatism, hypermetropia, and the visual acuity of the eye. Professor Johnson concludes with an important chapter on the working and testing of optical glass, in which he describes the roughing of lenses, the principles of the grinding and polishing processes, abrasives, edging, angle measurement, and other important steps in the production of optical glass. An appendix is included on the cleaning of glass surfaces, silvering, photographic items, developers, collodion films, and waxes and cements used for various purposes in optical work. This is a valuable work for the student and the amateur hobbyist as well as for many who use optical instruments in science and industry. It is written clearly and economically, with the needs of the practical worker in the field of optics held constantly in mind.

⭐This is a great book for someone new to optics. It has a lot of great experiments which I wish I had an optics bench for, but you can just do them with OSLO EDU version or another free optics software suite. In particular it has a ton of detail about basic instruments such as telescopes, binoculars and microscopes. I wish it had more on loupes but you cant have everything I guess. It also has a great practical chapter on what it takes to actually make optics. If you actually want to set up a shop you will find this useful.

⭐Enjoy doing business… Sells quality products…

⭐COVERS LENS SYSTEMS, PRISMS, MICROSCOPES AND TELESCOPES WELL WITH ALL FORMULAS AND DIAGRAMS. MATERIAL IS DATED TO 1960. DOES NOT INCLUDE LASERS, DICHROIC MATERIALS, NIGHT VISION, THERMAL OPTICS, OR HOLOGRAPHIC IMAGING. IT’S VERY USEFUL AS FAR AS IT GOES.

⭐There’s a large focus on examples and devices, but I would have much preferred more emphasis on fundamentals, theory, and equations. It’s fairly difficult to find many of the common equations in this book.

⭐O livro possui baixa qualidade na impressão, porém ótimo conteúdo.

⭐I got this since the original was in the mid-to-late 1950s. While a lot has developed since then, there are methods and treatments back in the middle 20th century that are still valid and useful – always good to have a reference like this.Diagrams are from B&W photos, but useful content nonetheless. A good addition to my library and price was right too! Recommended.

⭐Le leggi dell’ottica non cambiano nel tempo, quindi quello che viene insegnato è (ovviamente) corretto. Non ho apprezzato le illustrazioni anni ’70 e un approccio poco lineare agli argomenti trattati

⭐FULL MARKS ! If you need to understand optical theory … THIS is the book to read ! Very thorough ; it’s a very technical subject and this was originally published in 1960 so it’s a bit turgid ( hence only 4 stars ) … But to offset the turgidity there is so much useful information that it ceases to matter after a while … HIGHLY recommended.

⭐llego en buenas condiciones, esta en buenas condiciones, y es bastante interesantes en su contenido con respecto a la optica instrumental
