⭐Great book

⭐Very good for a resident.

⭐The book is written so that anyone can understand and recognize the manouvers.I can recommend it to anyone who is beginning their cataract training

⭐I am an ophthalmology resident and was frustrated by different staff giving me different answers about what my phaco settings did for me. This book is a good reference for understanding the mechanics behind what you are doing. The text is limited to what you need to understand the diagram on the opposite page. There is very little in the way of long descriptions without practical applications or diagrams to keep you engaged. Also has some helpful points on capsulorrhexis and microscope use.

⭐If you want to understand and not just perform a cataract surgery this is the very basic knowledge to start with! An essential for ophthalmology residents!

⭐I was skeptical to buy this text used, because you just never know, but there are no notes/drawings/writing on any of the pages and it is overall in good condition.

Description

It is a great personal pleasure to contribute to the 2nd Edition of “Phacoemulsification: A Step by Step Guide” by Yehia Salah El Din Mostafa MD MSc PhD. To know Professor Yehia is to understand his very warm and giving nature, his love for people, his zeal for performing cataract surgery, and his generosity in sharing his skills in teaching the art. As a result of his incomparable personal character, he has undertaken the huge task of creating this primer on phacoemulsification; he wrote or contributed to nearly all of the chapters. The book, a contemporary update to his original 2007 edition, not only provides a carefully thought out written analysis of all of the surgical steps of present-day cataract surgery, but also provides an extensive series of videos that will enhance the learning opportunity for the transitioning surgeon of any age and the young surgeon-in-training. The array of case types includes basic phacoemulsification as well as complex case types, small pupils, posterior polar cataracts, rock hard and otherwise mature cataracts, as examples . I expect that this book will be tremendously valuable and a regular “go to” for Residents. All who read this book will be able to gain the insight and experience of one of the best-known cataract surgeons in the world. Moreover, they will sense his love for his work, for his patients, and for his pupils. Samuel Masket MD Clinical Professor Stein Eye Institute – UCLA Los Angeles
