⭐There have been several books out with more detail, including more anatomy, more physiology, more pathology, and more history behind oculoplastic and orbital surgery (e.g. books by Drs. Dutton, Linberg, Nerad, and Putterman to name a few). All are excellent but most require an extensive amount of time and effort to read. (Yet, most should be required reading for all oculoplastic surgery fellows.) In fact, most of the information in this book can be distilled from the works of those authors. That is not the purpose of this book. This book is written for the trained ophthalmic surgeon looking to do surgery; plain and simple. It assumes that you already have a basic grasp of standard surgical techniques and want to augement your practice with specific procedures that you may not feel completely comfortable doing without some review. It assumes that you don’t need to read 60 pages of dense text to get reaquainted with a single procedure.Between the DVD videos provided and the well presented photos and sketches, several basic oculoplastic procedures are spelled out concisely in about 175 total pages. If you are a beginner (e.g. an ophthalmology / ENT / Plastics resident), this book is a good starter but may not contain enough background information for a complete understanding of oculoplastic surgery. But, if you are an Ophthalmologist / ENT / or Plastic Surgeon who wants to expand the procedures you incorporate into your practice, this is a fantastic book.

⭐Drs. Eliott and Rao have created an excellent resource for anyone performing surgery on patients with ocular inflammatory disease. The editors have gathered world experts on each subject, and each chapter is well written with plenty of illustrations. The text covers topics ranging from ocular surface management in OCP to techniques for obtaining retinal and choroidal biopsies, as well as literally everything in between. There are sections on cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy and even advice about removing band keratopathy and how to process delicate specimens. If you are performing surgery on patients with uveitis—something that applies to just about all of us–this book is a must have.
