Reviews

I am a visual learner and when I first laid eyes on this book, I HAD to have it. It did not disappoint. On the clinically common subjects there are usually more than 3 pictures, so you can get accustomed to seeing it from every angle possible. The thing that hooked me to this book was that next to the pictures there are 1-6 lines of description which is a super high-yield summary of what you need to know about the pathology(etiology, pathogenesis, morphology, correlations, complications).

I’m using this book for an Advanced Pathophysiology course for nurse practitioner school. This is the most poorly written book I have ever laid eyes on. It is incredibly disjointed jumping about from one topic to another like a rabbit on crack. It turns simple concepts into maddening complicated mazes of definitions and poorly worded descriptions. It is a true disappointment to me that any school would use this kindling for such an important class. I believe I would be unable to understand these topics if it weren’t for the incredible undergrad patho class I took a few years back. I have learned nothing from this book and end up looking up all of my study topics using other resources. PLEASE if you are are a school and are making a decision about what book to use….. PICK SOMETHING ELSE!

I just took my shelf exam in OBGYN, for anyone looking to pass this exam and the step 2ck. You must buy this book. It may look a lot to read but it isn’t. While i was studying for my shelf i took few NBMEs AND I crossed references in order find out where some of answers choice came from. I was stunned. Guest what? From this book. I don’t work for this company, I’m just a student like you who is just sharing his experience with you. Thank you,

Reviews

The book seems like a complete one inside…but the outside cover is completely white/blank/void of any graphics. I don’t really know what’s going on there. Still, it serves its purposes just fine. Good book, but this would have been good info to know when purchasing. Will be hard to resell.

Reviews

Reviews of previous edition. “There are sections on pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical manifestation and individual sections dealing with specific pathological conditions explaining each in great depth. In addition, it has extensive sections devoted to therapy including medical, interventional and surgical . All this makes the book a one-stop-shop for stroke. As a result, it is a work that will prove valuable to a wide range of clinicians involved with providing stroke services, including stroke physicians, acute care physicians, researchers, public health physicians and those involved with rehabilitation medicine…In comparison to the previous editions, the book has definite a advantages in the form of picture quality and web access. It is excellent value for the price as a reference book for stroke, not radiology specific. The book would find its place in a departmental radiology library. Overall, an excellent, up-to-date reference volume.” RAD, May 2012

Reviews

This is a slight cross between textbook and dictionary. I mean, it IS a dictionary, but it also offers good illustrations/photos as well as diagrams. Pretty easy to understand and basically chock full of terms. A little over 1.5″ thickness. Definitely would recommend this to a student going into the medical field in any capacity (administrative, nursing, doctor, lab tech, etc).

Had to get this for PA school. Read through it. Gives you the basics but I don’t think it teaches you to read a CXR all that well.
