⭐I have never been attracted to diets that weren’t based around the four food groups. This diet really teaches healthy eating. Although you don’t lose 10 pounds over night, you do learn healthy eating habits and lose weight in the process. I just finished the 14 days and lost 5 1/2 lbs. I would have lost at least 6 or more if I had exercised every day, I’m sure. The one thing I intentionally changed with the program that didn’t appeal to me was their request to limit your meat to the size of one deck of cards a day. I knew if I tried to do that, I would be completely frustrated and give up. So I just tried to limit it to a small amount at lunch and supper. Even with my unfaithfulness in exercising every single day and continuing to eat moderate amounts of meat, I still went from 172 to 167lbs. in the 14 days. That’s pretty good for a pre-menopausal woman. It’s hard work, but I think I learned some really great habits that will help me to reach my goal weight in a short amount of time and that I can stand to live with for the long run. I recommend getting the book and the journal, I feel that both of them are very helpful and encouraging.

⭐I had ten visits with a nutritionist (at a cost of $400.) and basically got the same information I received from this book. Buy the book read and follow what it says and save yourself $400.

⭐This book was very helpful if you are trying to follow a strict meal plan to successful weight loss. The book has colorful pictures of all the food items and explains the portions sizes and what the foods will do for you. I was able to find out what my caloric intake is daily from a dietitian and with that information and this book should be very easy to follow!

⭐This is a very good, clearly written book. It takes a common sense and science-based approach to eating behaviors and behavior modification. The book also takes a revised food pyramid approach. What I like about this diet approach is that no food is off limits, but serving sizes are the key to the diet approach. We eat more than we realize and this book helps make sense of that as well. Though this is not the be all and end all of diet books, it uses a plan that can be sustainable through the rest of your life.

⭐This is a plan that should work for most people. It’s real food. I have hypothyroidism so it has been difficult to lose weight.I tried this for 2 weeks using the food groups and my menus with no results other than I was the same weight when I startedas when I ended, and then I retried it for 2 weeks using their menu plan and recipes as much as I could and have been successful.at losing weight. I am still on the second week of the first part of the program. It is more of a life plan than a diet plan.

⭐Only three stars I believe this diet will do what it says it probably would work even for me at age sixty five if I had a nutritionist,personal, trainer, and cognitive therapist move right into my house.Great book and I will use it actually I have been trying it out for the last three days but I missed the small print that said unlimited vegetables was really only one half cup to two cups of lettuce.I am already eating more strawberries and blue berries than I thought possible,and I have discovered kale and bok choy. I have lost 20lbs the next 50lbs just seems so hard.IRENE FROM TN

⭐I didn’t know if this would help or not. I didn’t lose the 6-10# but I received a better benefit: my SLOW metabolism has speeded up. At Thanksgiving, I ate like there was no tomorrow for a diet, I did this for 5 days. Normally, I would have gained 5# minimum. However, I gained only 1 # and now it seems as if I am continuing to lose weight. I have tried for years to speed up my metabolism by more exercise, eating more often and smaller meals to no avail. THIS DID IT! HOORAYI just restarted the Jump Start portion and am having fantastic results. I have not been able to lose weight like this in a very long time no matter what I did or didn’t do. I am now below what I was more than 20 years ago. I still have one more week to go and then will probably go on maintenance. The problem will be how to keep it off. Also, it is very rewarding to take a size smaller in jeans. Now everyone is asking how I did it…

⭐This book is very disappointing. It still uses old food pyramids that list carbohydrates as the 2nd most important food. Wow – this is old science. There also include sweets/sugar in the top slot, where there should really be no place in a healthy diet for sugar.

⭐I have lost weight and I manage to keep the weight off. I brought the book thinking I may get some new ideas but there is nothing new in the book I did not already know. Still if you are trying to loose weight and not sure where to start I would read this book as it is just basic common sense, which lots of people do not have when dieting.

⭐One of the best books on losing weight I’ve read, it sets out in various chapters the best way to alter your diet to reap benefits and in fact having attended a well know weight management weekly group it would appear that this group follows exactly what is in The Mayo Clinic book.

⭐Very disappointed with this book. Nothing very new in it and nothing about food and dieting that many people don’t already know. Boring format.
