A systematic review and meta-analysis conducted to determine the prevalence of group B Streptococcus (GBS) carriage among parturient women and neonates, the relative risk of vertical transmission, and the pooled incidence of early and late-onset GBS infection. The analysis included 54 articles covering 355,787 matched pairs, finding a pooled prevalence of GBS colonisation of 17.1% among pregnant women and 1.0% among neonates.
