This systematic review and meta-analysis assesses the global disease burden and specific risk factors for acute lower respiratory infection (ALRI) caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants and young children born before 37 weeks of gestation. It provides estimated incidence, hospital admission rates, in-hospital mortality, and overall mortality figures worldwide for 2019, based on aggregated and individual participant data analyzed up to December 2021.
