Description

This study validates a standard point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) protocol for locating central venous catheter (CVC) position in preterm infants, comparing POCUS findings with radiographs. The aim was to validate the accuracy of the protocol in locating the central catheter position. The study assessed 35 central line placements in premature babies (≀30 weeks gestation). The POCUS protocol was found to be a reliable tool for assessing central line positions, showing high interpreter reliability (ΞΊ=0.778), sensitivity of 0.83, and specificity of 0.96.
