This study analyzes nation-based data in Türkiye to determine the rate of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in newborns with prenatal maternal cytomegalovirus (CMV) records, utilizing the National Newborn Hearing Screening Program. Results indicate that the congenital hearing loss rate (1.96%) in this group is significantly higher than in the general population, confirming that maternal CMV infection is an important risk factor for congenital hearing loss.
