This systematic review and meta-analysis assesses the effectiveness and safety of pulmonary surfactant (PS) therapy in children (aged 1 month to 18 years) suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The study found that PS treatment was associated with a significant reduction in the mortality rate and a lower incidence of adverse events in critically ill pediatric patients.
