Description

This randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy of 1-day versus 5-day continuous octreotide infusion, combined with endoscopic therapy, in 220 patients with cirrhosis and acute esophageal variceal bleeding. The study found similar rates for early rebleeding, 6-week rebleeding, and all-cause mortality, supporting the noninferiority of the shorter 1-day regimen.
