A systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of hypertonic saline (HTS) versus other intracranial-pressure-lowering agents for patients with acute traumatic brain injury (TBI). The study concluded that there was no significant evidence of an effect of HTS on clinically important outcomes (GOS score or mortality), but it was associated with adverse hypernatremia.
