This journal article details the retrospective evaluation of stains (potassium hydroxide plus calcofluor white, Gram, Giemsa, and modified Ziehl-Neelsen) for detecting microsporidia in corneal scrapings from 30 patients. The study concluded that KOH CFW (96.7%) and acid-fast stains (93.3%) were the most efficient methods for the diagnosis of microsporidial keratitis.
