This original article investigates the association between early amplitude-integrated electroencephalography (aEEG), assessed using the total maturation score (TMS), and the severity of brain injury detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at term-equivalent age in preterm infants. Analyzing a cohort of 523 infants, the study found that TMS scores were significantly lower in infants with severe brain injury, concluding that early aEEG is predictive of brain injury severity detected by MRI.
