This is an excellent textbook describing the prevention, epidemiology, diagnosis, medical & surgical treatments, complications, management, and rehabilitation of stroke diseases. It starts with descriptions of the causes of stroke. MRIs, angiography, and PET/SPECT of stroke syndromes are discussed . Imaging techniques like ultrasound and perfusion data are introduced. The treatment of thrombotic embolic diseases are dealt with. Hemicranectomy, stents, bypasses, and angioplasty are discussed in separate chapters. A discussion of cardiac disease is done too. Carotid surgery and NASCET studies looked at. Clinical levels of phase 2 and 3 drug trials for new agents and anticoagulation approaches including tPA and warfarin have sections in the book also.
