This prospective, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial compared prophylactic intravenous atropine (0.6 mg) with ephedrine (12 mg) one minute after spinal anesthesia induction in elderly patients undergoing urological surgeries to prevent hypotension and bradycardia. Both drugs were found to be safe and effective in reducing hemodynamic instability and decreasing the requirement for other vasopressors compared to placebo.
