A comprehensive textbook detailing the fundamentals and advanced techniques of nasal reconstruction. Topics include the history of reconstruction, anatomic considerations, preparation of the patient, methods for internal lining and structural support (cartilage and bone grafts), external coverage, and specific surgical techniques using various cutaneous and intranasal flaps.
This atlas addresses the rapidly developing field of adult congenital heart surgery, focusing on the growing population of patients who survive into adulthood. It covers the need for lifelong surveillance, treatment of consequences like arrhythmias and residual lesions, and interventions for both newly diagnosed and previously treated congenital heart defects in adult patients.
A practical reference covering the architectural, operational, and regulatory considerations required for the efficient layout and design of modern medical and dental clinics, focusing on workflow optimization, equipment integration, and patient experience.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) in newborns is a critical condition requiring early and accurate detection. This work presents an explainable multi-view video-based deep learning approach to predict and classify the severity of PH in a cohort of 270 newborns using echocardiograms. The model showed strong performance (e.g., F1-score of 0.84 for severity prediction via cross-validation) and uses saliency maps to confirm focus on clinically relevant cardiac structures, offering the first automated assessment method for PH in this population.

Providing a thorough introduction to the field of neural networks, this edition concentrates on networks for modeling brain processes involved in cognitive and behavioral functions. Part I explores the philosophy of modeling and the field’s history, and Part II reviews recent experimental findings in cognitive neuroscience and discusses models of conditioning, categorization, vision, sequence learning, behavioral control, decision-making, reasoning, and creativity. The book includes appendices reviewing the mathematics used in network modeling and basic neuroscience.
This volume highlights the major contributions of chemical engineering principles to the field of biomaterials science. It addresses the applications of biomaterials in artificial organs, medical devices, and pharmaceutical formulations, documenting the growth of this discipline since the mid-1960s.
