This volume is the fourth European Respiratory Monograph (ERM) devoted to respiratory medicine in children. It covers critical areas of paediatric lung physiology, including the assessment and standardisation of noninvasive infant lung function testing, analysis of wheezing disorders, early detection of bronchial asthma, and research into lung growth influenced by genetic and environmental factors.
A concise, pocket-sized clinical reference for trainees and practitioners covering essential principles, common procedures, and emergency management within the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
This medical analysis outlines the principles of parenteral solution delivery, defining and differentiating between isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic intravenous solutions. It details the composition of simple and complete nutrient solutions, and discusses critical factors for parenteral nutrition prescription, including water balance, fluid requirements based on patient conditions (e.g., burns, renal failure), and the use and concentration of standard amino acid solutions.
A comprehensive set of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed for review in medical and biological sciences. Topics covered include the chemical structure of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides, the Watson-Crick model of DNA, RNA types (mRNA, tRNA, rRNA), phosphodiester bonds, and the properties of the genetic code.
A comprehensive guide for medical students to navigate securely through clinical placements (Famulatur, Praktikum, PJ) and prepare for the State Examination.
Detailed analysis of the formulation and packaging processes specific to parenteral medications (injectable dosage forms), serving as Volume 1 of the Third Edition series on Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms.
This guide covers the basic physiology of body fluids, including total body water, distribution of fluids (ICF, ECF), electrolytes, water balance, and the units of measurement necessary for understanding and managing fluid and electrolyte disorders in patients.

This retrospective study examined the association between commonly obtained echocardiographic markers within the first 12 hours of life and eventual treatment of a hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (hsPDA) in preterm neonates (<32 weeks gestational age). The study found that neonates needing PDA treatment had significantly higher markers of cardiac output, including left ventricular output (LVO), right ventricular output (RVO), and superior vena cava (SVC) flow. These early measures may predict the need for future PDA treatment.
An educational lesson detailing concepts of computer security, including types of passwords (string, token, biometric), history, methods for building strong passwords, password encryption, and protection against password cracking. Primarily intended for non-commercial use with elementary through high school students.
