This book covers the methodology of research, which is an integral part of dental education. It addresses how dental materials, pharmaceuticals, preventive products, and new treatment protocols (like guided bone regeneration) must be validated by researchers, enabling dentists to participate effectively in the investigation of unresolved challenges and the evolution of dentistry, incorporating new science and technologies such as smart biomaterials, tissue engineering, and 3D printing.

This study evaluates the clinical course and the characteristics of transient refractive error occurring during intensive glycaemic control of severe hyperglycaemia. A transient hyperopic change occurred in all patients receiving improved control after hyperglycaemia. The study concludes that the degree of transient hyperopia associated with rapid correction of hyperglycaemia is highly dependent on the rate of reduction of the plasma glucose level, suggesting a reduction of refractive index in intraocular tissues, especially the lens, appears to be responsible for this change.
