4/5 stars due to the fact that the psychiatry section was still DSMIV and not updated to DSMV. Other wise this book was great for a quick read through just prior to starting my next rotation. By no means is this a comprehensive review but it is satisfactory enough to get a general idea of the knowledge for each core rotation. Definitely needs to be supplemented with other sources to prepare for shelf exams and needed clinical knowledge.

This book is very succinct and compared with the books by Habif and fitzpatrick is very short and does not include even half of the dermatological diseases. It discusses bacterial and fungal and viral diseases of the skin with psoriasis only. The explanation on each disease is good but this book is definitely very short and is not good for doctors or specialists in dermatology. In order to make it a good book it should include all or most diseases of the skin and explain it in the same way it is explained in this book.

The preface states that this book is is “most useful to practicing radiologists and radiologists in training,” and that “Other physicians who deal with orthopaedic problems will also find the information provided in this test extremely useful.” Well, I’m not a radiologist, but I would wholeheartedly agree with the latter statement (I’m in Rehab). This book provides a mind numbing number of superb clinical images that have excellent captions and associated figures that explain what you are looking at — extremely clearly. Countless teaching points. Just the right amount of high-yield clinically-oriented text as well. The images are crisp, clear and of the highest quality. Very well indexed. One of few books I have truly been satisfied to have purchased. Frankly, in light of just how MUCH book you are getting for your money, this is probably UNDERpriced! FYI: I have no affiliation with the author.

Cons: The non-interpretative section can really be cleaned up. The author goes on tangents and tries to be funny but that really gets in the way of understanding and memorizing material.
