Now when I finally opened this book which I bought 8 years ago, then in it I found explained my strange pain problem, the reason for which I probably now during 7 years in wain had been searching.

The reason in first now opening the book is that when I received it showed op to be only 3 ¾ * 7 inches, and actually the month before ordering the book I was involved in an accident, after which I never again can use my right arm and hand, so using a small book like this is awful/impossible.

But after during the past weeks having had more of the actual pain problem I took down all of the books concerning pain and muscle, and then in this one I found a drawing and explanation which precisely shows and explain my problem. This by among other telling and showing in the upper leg having the feel of intense burning and prickling pain, and that this is caused by back injury. And this fits, because actually 9 years ago I by another accident deformed a little bit of the back, but normally without pain in back, probably as result of my daily 25 – 30 minutes morning gymnastic.

But for me, and doctors it was impossible to guess that the special strange pain/burning which I nearly each night get in the right leg, and then waked me up, should be coursed by an older painless accident in the bag. So this book came with the explanation which I in wain have been searching after in other book – I owe more than 400 doctor books, among other Mosby’s Dictionary of Medicine, for Nursing & Health Professions – in Google, or by asking other persons.

So this book showed up to be enormous helpful, for searching after the reasons for my actual neuropathic pains, and besides in what to do. But again, for me only with the possibility to use the left hand, it’s too small and awful hard to work with.

Description

Central or peripheral neuropathic pain can be caused by a wide range of injuries, infections and diseases such as: spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke, herpes zoster, diabetes and cancer. Many of these pain syndromes are difficult to treat, representing a challenge for many neurologists not routinely trained in pain management. Written by an international team of experts in the field, Neuropathic Pain: Causes, Management and Understanding gives readers an in-depth understanding of the multitude of conditions causing neuropathic pain. Epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, pathophysiology, outcome measurement and the best evidence-based management of individual and general neuropathic pain conditions are also described in depth. A unique chapter, written from a patient’s viewpoint, gives new insight into how chronic neuropathic pain affects the lives of those patients with the condition. This book is essential reading for all pain specialists, neurologists, psychiatrists and anesthesiologists who wish to better understand their patients’ neuropathic pain.

Neuropathic pain is increasingly recognized as a chronic disabling condition. It is frequently thought of as harder to treat than other pain types, and it often results in a poorer quality of life. Around 30% of adults in the UK alone have some type of chronic pain and some estimates suggest that one in five of these will have symptoms of neuropathic pain.
