This essential guide brings together this information in an easy-to-use format. Up-to-date, relevant, and evidence-based information on the management of the critically ill is combined in one resource, ideal for the use of Intensive Care Units, High Dependency Units, acute medical or surgical wards, Accident and Emergency departments, and operating theatres.

The book is part of the Oxford Handbook series (like the cheese and onion) and will therefore be familiar to the majority of students. Being a handbook is particulary useful and means it’ll fit in most pockets without trouble… To finish this excellent piece of work, Thomas and Monaghan have included a chapter on interpretation – going through most of radiology, clinical chemistry and not forgetting the dreaded ECGs.

Description

Fully updated and revised for its second edition, the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Examination and Practical Skills is the only truly comprehensive pocket guide to all aspects of history taking, physical examination, practical procedures, data interpretation, and communication skills. Packed with expert knowledge and practical guidance it gives realistic advice on coping with common situations.

Reviews

As usual packed full of excellent clinical content. The downside of the Kindle edition is that navigation could be so much better. It would be helpful if there were hyperlinks to other relevant pages – for example from the Index to the appropriate page cited. This would make things much quicker in a busy GP surgery where you have 10 minutes per patient if lucky. Please attend to this for future editions of the OHCM and the other excellent Oxford series.
