Description

This book describes the reconstructive procedures currently used by the authors for the treatment of oral and maxillofacial defects, based on twenty-five years of experience at a major European University Hospital. The coverage encompasses mandibular, maxillary, orbitocranial, intraoral soft tissue and cutaneous defect reconstruction. Controversies in defect reconstruction are discussed, and clear guidance is given on the optimal choice of reconstructive technique according to the location and size of the defect. Full descriptions are provided of both aesthetic and functional procedures, with use of implants and dental prostheses. The resultant functional and aesthetic reconstruction will enable the patient quickly to resume a normal social, family and professional life. All of the chapters include representative images depicting each stage of treatment, from preoperative study, through intraoperative and postoperative appearances, to ultimate outcome upon rehabilitation.

This is a huge wealth of information, very valuable. However, the pages are coming out from the center. Very disappointing.

After I got the book I realized it was not worth more than $7, let alone over $50! It is probably the most expensive pocket-size book in the world! Most of the information in it you can now get from cheap, or even free, smart phone apps. The Harriet Lane is much more established and much more informative for its size. This book is not even complete. For example, CBC values by age are lacking… I would not recommend it. I am rarely impressed by AAP products anyways. I wouldn’t have written this review if it was reasonably priced. But I felt cheated.

Description

The incidence of handicap from syndromes and inherited disorders is world-wide and causes common problems for families and society. This edition has been extended to include 20 extra syndromes and additional material to aid the reader in contacting self-help groups. It provides a practical reference for carers and those with a syndrome or inherited disorder, describing the disorders and problems of both child and adult, considers the day-to-day management of conditions and is written in non-technical language for a wider audience but with enough detail for the medical, nursing and midwifery professions. Whilst new methods of diagnosis, investigation and treatment will, of course, occur over the next few years, the basics described in this book will still apply. As a basis for assessing needs and potential in their students and clients, social workers, nursery nurses and educationalists should find this reference source of value. This book should be of interest to paediatric and nursery nurses, social workers, teachers and child carers.
