Good informative book.
Since publication of the 4th Edition of The Autoimmune Diseases in 2006, the understanding of the immune mechanisms underlying autoimmunity and autoimmune disease has significantly deepened and broadened. This fully revised 5th Edition incorporates new material and combines common themes underlying inductive and effector mechanisms and therapies that relate generally to the autoimmune disorders. It discusses the biological basis of disease at genetic, molecular, cellular, and epidemiologic levels and includes expanded coverage of autoinflammatory disease and autoimmune responses to tumors.

TheBethesda Handbook of Clinical Oncologyis a clear, concise and comprehensive reference book for the busy clinician to use in his or her daily patient encounters. It focuses less on etiology, pathophysiology, and epidemiology, and considerably more on practical clinical information. Cancer management information is presented in a reader-friendly format that offers a comprehensive review of each disease along with the most commonly used treatment regimens, including chemotherapy dosing and schedules.
It’s more than questions. It’s actually a cardiology review book first with some questions after each section. Should be used as a replacement for the Mayo Clinic board review textbook. It’s nicer colors, print, and diagrams than the Mayo book.
This book offers clear, up-to-date guidance on how to report cytologic findings in cervical, vaginal and anal samples in accordance with the 2014 Bethesda System Update. The new edition has been expanded and revised to take into account the advances and experience of the past decade. A new chapter has been added, the terminology and text have been updated, and various terminological and morphologic questions have been clarified. In addition, new images are included that reflect the experience gained with liquid-based cytology since the publication of the last edition in 2004. Among more than 300 images, some represent classic examples of an entity while others illustrate interpretative dilemmas, borderline cytomorphologic features or mimics of epithelial abnormalities. The Bethesda System for Reporting Cervical Cytology, with its user-friendly format, is a “must have” for pathologists, cytopathologists, pathology residents, cytotechnologists, and clinicians.
They are still working on the interactive ebook with questions. The written “text” is good; very basic really but that is what I wanted it for as a retired internist. Organization is great. Well-written, concise, but fairly comprehensive. Check out the TOC online- pretty inclusive. It would have been great to have a section on nutrition since modern docs really need to know more than we ever learned; patients are very interested in this. Perhaps the Boards do not cover it. Office orthopedics would have been nice, too. For the price I paid, I received great value. It is, I think actually a bit basic, but if you know everything in this book, kudos to you! The review courses that cost thousands of dollars (the ones I usually do) are much more complete BUT VALUE on this purchase was great. I would buy it again.
The first edition of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology was published in 2010 and has greatly influenced the practice of thyroid cytopathology. The terminology proposed and illustrated in this text has been widely adopted not only in the U.S. but also abroad. It has become an essential text for pathology trainees and practicing pathologists examining thyroid fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens.
As a young specialist in cardiac EP, I really enjoyed studying this handbook, which served as an invaluable additional source to prepare for the European Heart Rhythm Association examinations in cardiac EP and cardiac rhythm devices. The book can be highly recommended to EP Fellows preparing for the board examinations, and also to the practitioner caring for the arrhythmia patient.
Very helpful for pharmacists
All I can really say is that this is generally usefu in a broad sense. I give it 4 stars because it provides most of it’s information in a straightforward chart-like format, but covers so many things so as to be uselessly superficial on some topics. Information given IS very specific and to-the-point when suggestions/remedies/cautions/conditions are discussed. Practical natural medicines are not often that simple though, so it is useful more as a general reference(i.e. have I forgotten something? Let me check my resources before making a recommendation.”) than a guide to actual client care. No single book is a complete guide for anything, and so I consider this book one useful resource for learning and ongoing practice.

This book systematically focuses on central sleep apneas, analyzing their relationship especially with heart failure and discussing recent research results and emerging treatment strategies based on feedback modulation. The opening chapters present historical background information on Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSR), clarify terminology, and explain the mechanics and chemistry of respiration. Following a description of the physiology of respiration, the pathophysiology underlying central apneas in different disorders and particularly in heart failure is discussed. The similarities and differences of obstructive and central apneas are then considered. The book looks beyond the concept of sleep apnea to daytime CSR and periodic breathing during effort and contrasts the opposing views of CSR as a compensatory phenomenon or as detrimental to the failing heart.
