One con of the book is the short one paragraph discussion on MR enterography for Crohn’s disease. At most academic children’s hospital, MR enterography has basically replaced small bowel follow through and CT for assessment of Crohn’s disease status.

Overall, the book is very readable, and I’m slowly digesting several pages each day.

SOAP for Obstetrics and Gynecology features over 60 clinical problems with each case presented in an easy-to-read 2-page layout. Each step presents information on how that case would likely be handled. Questions under each category teach the students important steps in clinical care. The SOAP series is a unique resource that also provides a step-by-step guide to learning how to properly document patient care. Covering the problems most commonly encountered on the wards, the text uses the familiar “SOAP” note format to record important clinical information and guide patient care. SOAP format puts the emphasis back on the patient’s clinical problem, not the diagnosis. This series is a practical learning tool for proper clinical care, improving communication between physicians, and accurate documentation. Reviews

The stated audience includes the clinician population, everyone who cares for patients. But that understates the strength of the book, which is the added benefit for those who learn more easily through visual effects and graphics. This is an extremely valuable resource for those students…This is an extremely useful book, with the major strengths being the illustrations and evidence sections. Because of these, the book is a very worthwhile addition to a medical library, particularly in teaching institutions. –Doody’s Review Service
