Reviews

The first edition of this text, in my opinion, set the standard for orthopaedic examination texts. I didn’t think the second edition would be better, but it is. All the content has had considerable and valuable updates, incorporating the most recent research (up to 2010). The content is also organized better and it’s easier to find specific tests you’re looking for. The first text had separate sections for reliability and validity, which sometimes made learning about a specific test cumbersome. This edition has this info. grouped together and it’s much easier to learn everything you need to know about a specific test quickly. Additionally, there are recommendations at the beginning of each chapter that provide a “down and dirty” summary of the most pertinent evidence-based recommendations to consider when evaluating a given region (i.e. cx spine, hip, etc…). These are surprisingly helpful when you only have a few minutes to review.
