Reviews

This book has the basic overview of what to look for during a general examination. I aspire to be an NP one day, yet I am quite intimidated with the ability recall so much information and practice at the level of my own provider – he is so detailed about many, many things while at the same time, relating to the patient. I’m afraid of making a mistake or overlooking something. This book really puts together the art and science of being a professional healthcare provider and how to do a general clinical exam. I am just starting nursing school, and I’ve already begun to incorporate some of the things in here, such as “wearing my hair up,” “saying ‘Good Afternoon’ instead of ‘hello'”, and being fine with myself if I touch a patient appropriately such as with a handshake or a touch on the shoulder. Learning professional boundaries and practicing a professional image before nursing school has helped me with my pre-nursing school jitters. I feel more in control and confident. Out of sheer curiosity, I purchased this book and I’m so glad I did. It has given me insight into what it would be like to be an NP one day and gives me hope that yes, I could do this if I keep studying hard and using this book as my guide and inspiration.
