With its many clinical photos (not usually seen in other, similar books), this is clearly one of the best board reviews available. I highly recommend this for board review and as a desk reference for all involved in the practice of internal medicine. – Vincent F Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP(Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) 5 star Doody Rating!

This book is easy to read and provides good explanations so that you are not forced to memorize random facts or mnemonics that do not make sense(as some of my classmates have commented about other Psychiatry review books), and every chapter ends with 5 – 15 practice questions. This book is published by LWW, so you will have on-line access to the e-book and do not have to carry it around with you.

I absolutely love these cards. I really like how they come with a key ring type item to hold all the cards together, comes in handy when you have 2 very rambunctious kids that like to take everything so it prevents them from being scattered around. I also love how each card comes with pictures, I’m very big on visual learning. The questions are good too since they make you think and it’s easier if you have someone studying with you when it comes to you answering them. I would recommend these, especially with how difficult of a course Microbiology is. I’m glad I bought these on Prime day when they were cheaper, I will definitely look into the other cards offered for other topics.

Alright med students of the world let me tell you about 1 of the billions of study books out there. This is a really good pathology book so far. I like how there are words that follow the diseases, and what I mean by that is that it is not just an outline book like Goljian or First Aid. There are also review questions that are nice but I don’t think they quite match up with Robbins question book but none-the-less any question is better than no question.

MRI is a difficult subject yet this book, which I refer to often, makes sense and clarifies various aspects in a simplified way that I can grasp. The layout and format makes finding information easy, and the concise wording and diagrams makes for ready comprehension. The title is well written and easily approachable for medical students, it covers the A to E approach to the management of all emergency medicine cases along with the secondary assessment before covering the commonest and most urgent presentations. The title also covers in brief investigations that should be carried out in the emergency department and most usefully it includes boxes that provide evidence based summaries of recommendations for treatment of conditions. The website that is available with this title provides a useful means for self-assessment with the questions available covering all of the chapters. The only way I feel that this title could have been improved is through the provision of some more diagrams within the text and maybe to have had diagrams/images available for download on the website.

I am taking functional neuroanotomy this Winter 2013, and I was stumped as to how I would learn the parts of brain and spine without flashcards that I would normally write myself. Of course, I could spell out different sections and functions, and I have an atlas to help with that, but, honestly I live and die by my flashcards.

The Netter’s flashcards were an obvious solution to my dilemma, but I was apprehensive about the cost; however, I found them to be well worth it. The 125 cards are well worth the cost, and they are very intuitive, even going as far as to show placement on MRIs. If you’re spending any length of time in the brain and neurosciences, I highly recommend purchasing this. It’s a wonderful supplement to any textbooks you may have to buy on the subject.
