The Clinical Cases Uncovered series of books that are case based books are certainly a useful book for any medical student to consider purchasing and using for themselves. Before purchasing though you must decide whether you want a series such as this that will simply walk you through each of the cases that you are presented with not so many opportunities to attempt to work through them yourself. If however you are looking for a title that will allow you to work through the case before you read a similarly detailed answer then why not consider the 100 cases series & in this case particularly 100 Cases in Psychiatry.

I bought this book because I thought the material covered is better than the “at a glance” equivalent, and I also needed a quick revision guide for exams. It covers the basic principles of orthopaedics and rheumatology, but isn’t great on the different types of fractures. It’s not very detailed/useful if you want to learn a bit more about the common fractures in the body. I’m all medical students get quizzed by their consultants while in the wards/clinics/theatres. Personally, I don’t think this book is sufficient for that purpose. I just hope it contains ‘enough’ for me to pass my ortho exam.

This handbook is comprehensive yet concise and would serve as a handy and quick reference point in the clinic. It would be useful not only for pediatric rheumatologists but also for trainee pediatricians, nurses, and multidisciplinary therapists. Wonderful book. I believe that this is my third edition of this book. My original one was bought in 1998 because I couldn’t afford Harrison’s Textbook of Medicine while I was in Physician Assistant school. However, this book was more than adequate then and continues to not disappointment. This book has obviously grown by a few hundred pages since my original one was purchased approximately 20 years ago. It is a great book for studying for re-certification and for reference from a real, proven authority (as opposed to Wikipedia and various other online searches).
