With its practical approach strongly linked to underlying theory, the series integrates your knowledge with the realities of managing clinical problems, and provides a basis for developing problem-solving skills. Related OSCE counselling style questions and answers also feature at the end of each section. Key concepts and important information are highlighted, and the reader-friendly layout reflects exactly the type of question you will encounter, making the perfect revision aid for all types of case-based examination. Core Clinical Cases in Psychiatry provides a highly structured case history text which presents key psychiatric disorders and conditions i

It’s a great compliment to my pharmacology text. It’s easy to read without getting bored. It reinforces what I learnt in pharmacology but it does not substitute for a great pharmacology text.

As far as I can tell, so far, after using the book for a few days, the stuff that is rare is not necessarily in this book…One can find the rare stuff on Google, etc. The book has shown itself to be well-worth the small cost.

Description

Written by leading American practitioners, the Oxford American Handbooks of Medicine each offer a pocket-sized overview of an entire specialty, featuring instant access to guidance on the conditions that are most likely to be encountered. Precise and prescriptive, the handbooks offer up-to-date advice on examination, investigations, common procedures, and in-patient care. These books will be invaluable resources for residents and students, as well as a useful reference for practitioners.

Reviews

Excellent book for medical students and residents in Emergency Medicine. For someone who multitasks like in EM, the 2-page summaries of over 600 conditions are a blessing. This is a great reference for those couple of minutes you get between sitting down after you see a patient and your attending finishing up what s/he is doing before asking to hear your presentation. It’s also good for reviewing conditions after cases, as well as Step 2/3 prep alongside UWorld. Its main weakness is its lack of pictures or diagrams.
