This is a slight cross between textbook and dictionary. I mean, it IS a dictionary, but it also offers good illustrations/photos as well as diagrams. Pretty easy to understand and basically chock full of terms. A little over 1.5″ thickness. Definitely would recommend this to a student going into the medical field in any capacity (administrative, nursing, doctor, lab tech, etc).

Had to get this for PA school. Read through it. Gives you the basics but I don’t think it teaches you to read a CXR all that well.

This award-winning text offers a complete understanding of each disease, as well as the latest knowledge of both existing vaccines and those currently in research and development. Described by Bill Gates as “an indispensable guide to the enhancement of the well-being of our world,” Plotkin’s Vaccines is a must-have reference for current, authoritative information in this fast-moving field.

Reviews

This is an unvarnished history of vaccination going back to the first recorded vaccination given by a Buddhist nun in 10th century AD China. All verifiable pros and cons of individual vaccines are presented here. Because of this it is a very long book and most people will not read the whole text. However it is an excellent source of objective information about any vaccine. Because it presents both the good and the bad of vaccines, there will always be people who are not satisfied by the information they find. But it is better to have the real facts rather than some alternative version of reality created by people with preconceived notions.
