Description

The new edition of Principles of Anatomy and Physiology maintains the superb balance between structure and function. It continues to emphasize the correlations between normal physiology and pathophysiology, normal anatomy and pathology, and homeostasis and homeostatic imbalances. The acclaimed illustration program is also even better along with the redevelopment of many of the figures depicting the toughest topics to grasp.

Reviews

This is my first A&P book, and I’ve not enjoyed it as much as I would’ve liked. I would prefer to receive information in a way that starts at a high level, then breaks down that information in a consecutive way, breaking things down more and more until we get to low level information. This book gives very brief overview of each section, then dives directly to the bottom of the ocean where you’re stuck in a completely alien environment, with a whole new language to describe every minute thing you observe. This didn’t work for me.

This award-winning text offers a complete understanding of each disease, as well as the latest knowledge of both existing vaccines and those currently in research and development. Described by Bill Gates as “an indispensable guide to the enhancement of the well-being of our world,” Plotkinโ€™s Vaccines is a must-have reference for current, authoritative information in this fast-moving field.

Reviews

This is an unvarnished history of vaccination going back to the first recorded vaccination given by a Buddhist nun in 10th century AD China. All verifiable pros and cons of individual vaccines are presented here. Because of this it is a very long book and most people will not read the whole text. However it is an excellent source of objective information about any vaccine. Because it presents both the good and the bad of vaccines, there will always be people who are not satisfied by the information they find. But it is better to have the real facts rather than some alternative version of reality created by people with preconceived notions.

Freaking long and huge textbook. It was mandatory. Had a lot of useless and repetitive stuff, but if you were able to get past all the pretentious big words you could get what the author was trying to say. I wish I could remember all of it though. But >2000 pages, I think I barely retained 10 pages from the whole book. I liked this one a bit more than my other nursing school books because it had quite a few pictures and diagrams unlike other textbooks that just have gigantic blocks of words with no breaks in between.

This book fit the course I took very well. The combination of the two and a lot of extra studying from this book helped me pass the NHA exam top of my class. But I will say there was way more information than you actually needed to know.
