Current Understanding and New Techniques in Refractive Surgery (Surgery – Procedures, Complications, and Results: Eye and Vision Research Developments) 1st Edition (2013) by Michael O’Keefe PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2013
  • Number of pages: 306 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 5.66 MB
  • Authors: Michael O’Keefe

Description

In this book, we examine the current techniques of refractive surgery, and lesser-known areas, and we describe some of the newer techniques. Our intention is to reinforce our understanding of the basic areas of LASEK, LASIK, dry eye, topography and aberrations. We have added new and controversial areas of research such as refractive surgery to patients with strabismus and paediatric refractive surgery and have highlighted the current understanding of ectasia and its management. Although refractive surgery is popular with up to a 20 year follow up, little is known about the risk of recurring refractive errors. We discuss this in detail and give our own follow-up outcomes. Many regard the frontier as presbyopia, but as it is a moving target, we still lack the information to decide whether the future will be cornea or lens. We discuss the current corneal techniques such as Inlays and Supracor, their advantages and disadvantages. Our target readers are ophthalmologists in training as well as those who practice refractive surgery.

Cystoid Macular Edema: Medical and Surgical Management (2017) by Shlomit Schaal PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2017
  • Number of pages: 252 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 7.65 MB
  • Authors: Shlomit Schaal

Description

Written for comprehensive ophthalmologists and vitreoretinal surgeons, this book discusses state-of-the-art medical and surgical management of cystoid macular edema (CME) and explains the current understanding of the pathophysiology of the condition and methods of diagnosis. The management approach is clearly detailed for each potential presentation, including CME occurring in association with uveitis, diabetes mellitus, vitreoretinal interface changes, retinal vascular occlusions, and lens-induced pathology. The guidance takes full account of the continued expansion in medical treatment options due to the development of new drugs and the increased availability of minimally invasive surgical procedures. Additionally, since therapeutic approaches to CME depend on a clear understanding of pathophysiologic mechanisms and the structural changes in the vitreous and neurosensory retina revealed by imaging studies, these aspects are carefully considered as well.

⭐The DVD that comes with this book is worthless. The quality of the videos is poor. You can get much better videos on youtube. The book itself is a compilation of techniques used by different surgeons. Don’t believe this is worth the $30 I paid. Would definitely not recommend this book.
