Handbook of Nutrition, Diet, and the Eye, Second Edition, thoroughly addresses common features and etiological factors on how dietary and nutritional factors affect the eye. The ocular system is perhaps one of the least studied organs in diet and nutrition, yet the consequences of vision loss are devastating. There are a range of ocular defects that have either their origin in nutritional deficiencies/excess or have been shown to respond favorably to nutritional components. Featuring a new section on animal model studies where both the ocular problem and dietary remedies can be varied, there are also new chapters on dietary supplements.Serves as a foundational collection for neuroscience, neurology and nutrition researchers, illustrating the importance of nutrition and diet in eye health and functionProvides a common language for readers to discuss how nutritional factors and related diseases and syndromes affect the eyeFeatures new chapters on infectious diseases of the eye where nutrition is a factorDiscusses animal model studies, dietary supplements, natural dietary extracts from around the world, and age-related changes in ocular health

⭐very conservative in describing the condition of the book. I bought this “acceptable” condition book–actually it should be labled very good or like new. very smooth transaction and fast shipping. will buy from them again. thanks!!

⭐I purchased a new 2nd printing of this book, and the printing quality is very poor compared with the 1st. I was sent another new book to see if it was just the one bad print, but it wasn’t. For, example the pages are coming apart from the binding, the words are fading, pictures are very low quality, etc. However, the book’s content seems very good for an overall view of OCT, just get your tape out to repair the book itself.

Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I was able to purchase the first three volumes of this 3rd edition 5 volume set, which is only a few years old, for a fraction of their original price. These three are of particular interest to me, as a professional optical designer. Volumes 4 and 5 are more esoteric, and in any event, have not yet showed up on the Amazon used book offerings.Sponsored by the Optical Society of America, each volume contains some two dozen chapters by experts in each subject.Vol. 1: Geometrical and Physical Optics, Polarized Light, Components and Instruments.Vol. 2: Design, Fabrication and Testing; sources and detectors, Radiometry and Photometry.Vol. 3: Vision and Vision Optics.

⭐Terrible print quality

⭐The print quality of this book is horrible. About 25% of the pages look like they were printed and then sent through the printer again aligned just slightly off. It causes it to look blurry. The content seems correct but is poorly laid out and explained. For example: “The positive direction of the reflected E vectors are not the same as the actual directions… If n1>n0 at Es will be in the negative direction”Instead: The drawing shows the E vectors for N1< N0 however if N1>N0 Es will be in the negative direction.Instead of saying the drawing isn’t always right why not say when the drawing is right and what it looks like under the other condition. Much less ambiguous.I didn’t know about it ahead of time but wish I would have gotten Principles of Optics by Borne and Wolf instead.

⭐Very useful handbook.

⭐By far and away the best reference to the design and fabrication of optical component and system design and fabrication. An excellent book for the optical physicist and engineer.

⭐As of now it is fine. I cannot give a full 5 star rating until it has proven to be much more beneficial to me.

⭐Very useful handbook.
