⭐This book is a big disappointment. Three reasons. First, the authors purport to take a systematic approach to SD-OCT scan interpretation. However, there is no labelled figure showing the layers of the normal retina and choroid. Second, none of the figures have identifiers (arrows, and the like) to identify the features being described. Finally, not one of the many line drawings that accompany scan images is labelled. So the reader is left to use guesswork to identify the layers that may, or may not, be involved in the process described. And this is the second edition?!

⭐Pretty basic stuff. Only 96 pages in total. No arrows or markers in the figures. Quite expensive. Many better and cheaper books out there. Not very pleased 🙁

Description

This book provides an analytical and thorough review of clinical electrophysiology of vision, and the progress made in the field in the past decade. Handbook of Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision is designed to aid the readers in understanding the types of electrophysiologic tests that should be used in specific diseases, how to explain the results of these exams, and how to perform the tests of clinical electrophysiology of vision. Concise in format, the Handbook of Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision is divided into two sections that discuss a wide range of relevant topics, such as technology of electroretinography, electrooculography, visual evoked potential, characteristics of electroretinography in retinal diseases, and the characteristics of optic nerve diseases. Part one begins with a discussion on the basic theory of electrophysiology of vision, illustrating physiologic sources of electrophysiological responses, the techniques of the recording, and analysis of electrophysiologic signals. Part two then dives into the clinical application of electrophysiology of vision, and subsequently summarizes the characteristics of the electrophysiological signals in a number of disorders of retina and optic nerve. Handbook of Nutrition and Ophthalmology (Nutrition and Health) (2007) by Richard David Semba PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2007
  • Number of pages: 511 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 7.9 MB
  • Authors: Richard David Semba

Description

The Nutrition and Health series of books have, as an overriding mission, to provide health professionals with texts that are considered essential because each includes: 1) a synthesis of the state of the science, 2) timely, in-depth reviews by the leading researchers in their respective fields, 3) extensive, up-to-date fully annotated reference lists, 4) a detailed index, 5) relevant tables and figures, 6) identification of paradigm shifts and the consequences, 7) virtually no overlap of information between chapters, but targeted, inter-chapter referrals, 8) suggestions of areas for future research and 9) balanced, da- driven answers to patient/health professionals questions which are based upon the totality of evidence rather than the findings of any single study. The series volumes are not the outcome of a symposium. Rather, each editor has the potential to examine a chosen area with a broad perspective, both in subject matter as well as in the organization of their volume. The international perspective, especially with regard to public health initiatives, is emphasized where appropriate. The editors, whose trainings are both research and practice oriented, have the opportunity to develop a primary objective for their book; define the scope and focus, and then may invite the leading authorities from around the world to be part of their initiative. The editor/authors are encouraged to provide an overview of the field, discuss their own research and relate the research findings to potential human health consequences.
