Description

For both surgeon and patient alike, the success of modern implant surgery is increasingly judged by the refractive and astigmatic outcome. In spite of this, there has not yet been a practical book that addresses the process of performing limbal relaxing incisions (LRIs). Dr. Louis D. “Skip” Nichamin and his contributors aim to fill this void with Limbal Relaxing Incisions: A Practical Guide.Limbal Relaxing Incisions serves as a guide for novice refractive implant surgeons looking to incorporate incisional astigmatism surgery into their repertoire. It also contains practical pearls that the more experienced practitioner can use to refine astigmatic refractive outcomes following lens-based surgery.Limbal Relaxing Incisions covers a wide range of information from the history, background, and future of astigmatism management, to important subjects such as measuring cylinder and strategic planning for the surgical correction of astigmatism. Dr. Nichamin and his contributors detail their personal approaches to the use of LRIs, each presenting a slightly different technique and providing simple clinical pearls for both the novice and experienced practitioner. In addition, the book offers a discussion on astigmatic enhancement surgery, potential complications, and insight into the emerging field of Femto-Second Laser technology to further refine and automate astigmatism correction.Residents in ophthalmology, comprehensive ophthalmologists, refractive cataract surgeons, and keratorefractive surgeons taking up lens-based refractive surgery will appreciate the “this is how I do it” approach in Limbal Relaxing Incisions: A Practical Guide, as well as the emphasis on clinical pearls, written by some of the most experienced refractive cataract surgeons in the field.

⭐I’m a Canadian pharmacist preparing to write the FPGEE to practice in the US. I’ve only been out of school for a few years but certainly needed a refresher on basic PK/PD principles and pharmacology of major drug classes. I’m absolutely loving this book so far. The PK/PD is explained in very easy to understand terms, and I have a much better grasp of basic pharmacological principles. My only regret is not buying this book sooner when I was in pharmacy school, would have helped immensely preparing for exams. This book has reminded me how much I enjoy the science of pharmacy!

⭐On time and in new condition. Everything I was hoping for.

⭐I can’t give it enough reviews. This is a good read, gets to the point..won’t put you to sleep.LIR…This is one of the best series of science books that does exactly what the LIR stands for ” Illustrated Reviews”. Doesn’t use overblown words. Not dumbed down….just connects the dots.

⭐tons of information, tons of illustrations, colorful figures, explanations, diagrams, comparing tables, chartsorganized and detailed !!!!!!

⭐It is an easy to read pharmacology book. This book may not be right for you if you are looking for more detailed information

⭐Dis product seems to be very informative for all those in the beginning of pharmacology and also is a good revision…..

⭐Bought it for advanced pharm, used uptodate instead the entire class. What can I say….

⭐I wanted to change the review for this book since I have since learned to view this book as an introduction. I use it as a stepping stone for learning about select drugs then my more in-depth text for elaboration.

⭐I’m always would like this book

⭐I like the old edition and that is why I bought the new one. The new edition is waste of money. More money with no significant updates. Many new approved drugs are not included in this edition. Some protocols are old. For example, in hepatitis B drugs, they did not mention tenofovir which is the first line therapy since more than 5 years.

⭐Precise

⭐An industry legend !

⭐This is the pharmacology bible. I’m in a masters of pharmacology program and this book has been an invaluable resource to me. My friend in medical school has also found this book to be helpful for her studies! It is organized well and it explains things well. The questions at the end of the chapter have really helped me gage my knowledge.

⭐If you had a perfect knowledge of this book, it is extremely doubtful that you would run into anything that you couldn’t handle.

⭐Excellent. Good visuals. Easy to read

⭐Yep, it’s a boring dry book on pharmacology. It’s large and has lots of space in the margins for notes. The copy that I got is brand new and it was a little pricey but not horrible. The shipping was quick and I anticipate that I will have it for a long time. I’m studying for MD recertification exam and it is a very all conclusive source. I recommend it.

⭐I paid $76 for a damaged book!!! Its going back!!!

  • File Size: 100.72 MB

Description

Much like unearthing a buried hoard of antiquities, the recovery of these retinal drawings offers fresh discovery of art in medicine. The striking representations of retinal disorders illustrate the range and beauty of this now rarely performed skill. Carefully rendered likenesses of the inside of the eye that are stunningly and eerily attractive were selected from a cache of over 12,000 drawings created over more than three decades. Unique to retinal drawing, the inside of the globe is shown as circular images, forcing each artist to depict distortions tinted by their own interpretation. This colorful book examines the technique and history of retinal drawing, its application and variations of artistic rendition, and covers a wide array of visually distinctive disorders.

⭐As a practicing retina specialist, it is nice to have a reference to the lost art of retinal cartography. The drawings were done by some of the famous names in our subspecialty, archived and preserved for us to see how we documented retinal pathology before the advent of wide field fundus photography. I remember drawing such charts during my fellowship, and it is one of the things I still do despite having the facilities for fundus photography

⭐great value book. excelent dealer. it records the passion era of retinal surgery, and, in a spite of modern technincs, remind us about the care and time expended in each single patient

⭐I learn something what a retinal detachment looks like in these drawings each one is different

⭐Nostalgic remembrances of a time in training and a required discipline no longer utilized. Was not excited about it at the time but over 50 years later, brings fond memories.Bruce

⭐As expected. Shame only paperback available

⭐Barbara Brown, CO, Med, is an orthoptist and ophthalmic medical technologist who began her career as an orientation and mobility instructor. She has been dedicated to low vision care since 1976 and has helped to initiate low vision clinics in Augusta, CA; Jacksonville, FL; and several ophthalmology practices around Boston, MA. She has provided low vision care to patients, taught ophthalmology residents and ophthalmic technicians about low vision, and assisted in the development of the low vision section of the JCAHPO™ certification examinations. She has seen a tremendous increase of interest in low vision over the past 30 years and hopes that the next generation of ophthalmic and optometric health care providers of any capacity continue to be vitally concerned about the debilitating aspects of low vision and are able to help their patients with compassion and skill.

⭐

⭐Ms. Brown currently teaches mathematics at a high school in the Boston area. After having several low vision students, she is learning to further appreciate the needs of low vision youth. And after becoming presbyobic herself, she is learning to further appreciate the value of magnification!

Macroscopic Ocular Pathology: An Atlas Including Correlations with Standardized Echography (2012) by Fritz H. Stefani PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2012
  • Number of pages: 192 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 25.68 MB
  • Authors: Fritz H. Stefani

Description

Today, ophthalmic pathology deals more and more with pathogenesis using highly sophisticated techniques. In recent decades, it has ex panded to such an extent that it now fills several volumes of a modern comprehensive atlas or textbook. Black and white prints of the macroscopic appearance of dissected eyes are standard in modern textbooks. Color photographs, although providing more visual infor mation and a better insight into the sometimes complex disease pro cesses of the eye, are however costly. Nevertheless, many ophthalmo logic colleagues expressed their desire to have me prepare such an atlas. It is not intended to replace one of the textbooks in this field but rather to supplement existing texts and to stimulate clinical and diagnostic thinking. Hence it should be used in conjunction with textbooks on anatomy and ocular pathology. The reader will find references on the different subjects in the excellent modern textbooks listed below. Diagnosis and treatment in ophthalmology is to a great extent based on morphologic examination. Clinical ophthalmologists have available such excellent tools as the slit-lamp, the gonioscope, and the ophthalmoscope to study and document ocular disease in vivo under high magnification. Both external eye structures and transpar ent ocular structures can be observed better in vivo than in the pathol ogy laboratory. Therefore the pathology of these is only presented in conditions in which direct visualization is normally difficult.
