⭐Excelent!

⭐This is by far the best manual I have seen on LASIK surgery. It is very concise and readable, but with a wealth of reference material applicable to the latest equipment and techniques. It is appropriate for both the beginning LASIK surgeon and the experienced practitioner. It is well illustrated, and has easy to use tables and nomograms on everything from ablation calculations to microkeratomes and IntraLase. It also includes some bonus material on other refractive procedures, such as nomograms for limbal relaxing incisions. The best part, though, are the case studies, of which there are MANY, covering everything from basic myopic LASIK, to handling of the most serious complications in refractive surgery. All of the cases are indexed and cross-referenced for topic and equipment used, which makes it easy to see how others have handled different situations when you have a patient with an issue. I am a practicing LASIK surgeon, and I thoroughly recommend this book.

⭐I saw this book at a national meeting and briefly glimpsed through it. Both of the authors are highly regarded in the field of pediatric ophthalmology and their knowledge is certainly a source to be tapped. I decided to go ahead and purchase it on Amazon given my shared professional interest with the authors. This type of learning (i.e. case-based approach) is perfectly suited to strabismus surgery. Strabismus surgery is not always straight-forward and one often has to rely on feel and intuition. This book provides a glimpse into how two expert strabismus surgeons think, evaluate a given clinical scenario, and anticipate surgical outcomes. It is helpful for beginners like residents as well as practicing ophthalmologists who want to test their acumen on more complex cases. Each case is presented in a standardized format and appropriately labeled as beginning, intermediate, and advanced. I am in the midst of reading it cover-to-cover, as I’ve picked up important and helpful points from even the most basic of cases. In addition, the book comes with access to surgical videos that correspond to most of the cases. These are also appropriately narrated from start to beginning with special attention to surgical landmarks that are often neglected when presenting educational videos. It is important to note that both authors seem to favor the use of the adjustable-suture technique, so one should be aware of this as they go through the videos. However, even if you are not in the practice of using adjustable-sutures this book is still extremely helpful. In short, I’d highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject matter.

⭐Excellent review source for strabismus. It’s concise and in an easy format to read.Recommended for all strabismologist.

⭐One of the best strabismus texts now in print. I have read it cover to cover twice. I have been doing strabismus surgery for many years, and this text has many great pearls for the novice and seasoned strabismus surgeon alike. It is concise and practical, and its topics easily lend themselves to further discussion. Should be required reading for all pedi-oph fellows.

⭐interesting

⭐It Is very practical. I consult this book and the videos very often. I recommend it to every ophthalmologist interested in strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology.

⭐This small but surprisingly comprehensive text on strabismus surgery from the well respected faculty at Boston Children’s met my expectations and more. I’m a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellow and it had plenty of pearls for people at every level. I liked the organization into a case based approach which reflects the way learning actually happens at the fellowship level. I would also recommend it for those in residency or comprehensive ophthalmologists that have a special interest in strabismus. Keep in mind that strabismus surgery styles vary from one institution to the next, even within the same institution (as I can attest to going from residency to fellowship and operating with 10 different strabismologists along the way). Drs. Hunter and Cestari use botox and adjustable sutures frequently, but even if you do not plan on using these techniques there is plenty to be learned from this book. Buy it if you are in training and have any intention of performing strabismus surgery in the future, or if you are in practice and would like to expand your knowledge base.

⭐The product description for the book need to be updated. No online videos available with the book as mentioned I so decided to return.

⭐Excellent book for the trainee ophthalmologist. It is case based, enabling you to learn techniques one case at a time. This also enable you to easily compare cases to what you are seeing day to day.

Lens Epithelium and Posterior Capsular Opacification 2014th Edition (2014) by Shizuya Saika PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2014
  • Number of pages: 441 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 12.79 MB
  • Authors: Shizuya Saika

Description

This book is the first to summarize the current knowledge of the cell biology of lens epithelial cells in relation to and in the development of posterior capsular opacification (PCO). PCO remains the most common long-term complication of modern cataract surgery, occurring months or years after cataract surgery, unlike most other complications that tend to arise during or soon after the procedure. Opacification of the posterior capsule appears to be linked to lens epithelial cells that are left behind in the eye during cataract removal. These cells proliferate, migrate across the posterior lens capsule, and undergo changes that result in fibrous or pearl-type opacities in the capsule. The first section of the text explains the molecular mechanism and biology of lens epithelial cells that lead to the incidence of PCO. In the second part, in addition to a description of the mechanism and pathological condition of PCO, surgical methods and devices for preventing PCO are discussed in detail.Lens Epithelium and Capsular Opacification will benefit not only young clinical residents and junior researchers, but also established faculty in the clinical or basic academic field.
