The Handbook of Neuroprotection 2011th Edition (2011) by Kewal K. Jain PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2011
  • Number of pages: 578 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 4.05 MB

Description

Neuroprotection has been placed on a firm scientific basis during the past decade due to an improved understanding of the molecular basis of neurological diseases and the knowledge that treatment of neurological disorders should not be merely symptomatic but preventative against the progression of the underlying disease, as well as regenerative. The Handbook of Neuroprotection serves as a comprehensive review of neuroprotection based on knowledge of the molecular basis of neurological disorders. Neuroprotective effects of older, established drugs, as well as new drugs in development, are well documented in this detailed volume, featuring the most cutting-edge and innovative methods currently in use. In-depth and authoritative, The Handbook of Neuroprotection features a compendium of vital knowledge aimed at providing researchers with an essential reference for this key neurological area of study.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Jain’s Handbook is written, I believe, to be used as a resource for physicians and other healthcare providers. Chapter 2, running to more than 100 pages, provides a comprehensive overview of neuroprotective agents, both pharmaceutical and `natural,’ and gives their basic mechanics and applications, along with clinical trial status where applicable. The subsequent 11 chapters focus on specific areas of neuroprotection, for example, as it applies to traumatic brain injury, to AD, to the peripheral nervous system. Information concerning efficacy and clinical trial status are also provided. The Handbook is written in a clear style and goes into a reasonable level of detail, given its breadth. The research appears to be current; neurological injuries discussed include ones common among Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. For me, noteworthy is the frequency development of apparently promising new drugs is discontinued by pharmaceutical companies. Finally, I mention a slight weakness of the Handbook – the index lacks some entries for some terms and even section topics. Since the Handbook is likely to be used as a reference resource, it is particularly important that the index is exhaustive to enable the reader to find any relevant information the Handbook may have.

⭐Very interesting book and service delivery it was just in time. I recommend this book

⭐Handbook of NeuroprotectionSpringer New York, Berlin, HeidelbergJoseph J Grenier MD PhDThis is a comprehensive handbook and text on the approaches to neuroprotection for Cerebral Ischemia, ALS, Parkinson’s. The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal (Topics in Environmental Physiology and Medicine) (2011) by F. Hollwich PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2011
  • Number of pages: 142 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 4.25 MB
  • Authors: F. Hollwich

Description

This book was written to show that light is a primal element of life. All life originates and develops under the influence of the light of the sun, that “super terrestrial natural force” (Goethe). Sunlight influences the vital processes not onlyofthe plant (e. g. , heliotropism, photosynthesis) and the animal (e. g. , color change, maturation of the gonads) but of man as well. The human organism too reacts “heliotropically,” as the 24 hour rhythm of the sleep-waking cycle demonstrates. of Artists have always perceived clearly the intensive stimulatory effect sunlight on their activity. One is reminded here ofCesare Lombroso, who wrote to his daughter “that thoughts come in the greatest profusion when (my) room is flooded with the sun’s rays. ” Richard Wagner exclaimed: “Ifonly the sun would come out, I would have the score finished in no time. ” Bernard Shaw had a little cottage where he worked that could be turned according to the position of the sun. The composer Humperdinck wrote: “The sun is indispensable for my work; that is why it is important for me to have my study face east or south. ” As these few examples indicate, it is above all those active in the arts who intuitively grasp the positive influence of sunlight on the psycho-physical effi ciency of their organism. In an age, however, when fluorescent lighting turns night into day, we are in danger of forgetting that man is a creature of nature as well as of culture.

⭐Paradigm altering stuff, who would’ve known light through the eye affected metabolism so much. A vast compendium of studies relating to the Eye Clock i.e., the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which Hollwich refers to as the energetic pathway of the eye.

Description

The iris is a circular, pigmented tissue that separates the anterior chamber of the eye from the posterior chamber. It has a crucial role on controlling the amount of the light entering the eye through its central opening “the pupil”.The Iris has multiple important functions that support and provide image clarity on the retina. However, it is a largely neglected part of the eye, compared to the cornea lens, retina, and optic nerve, and has not been focused on in a comprehensive way until now.The Iris: Understanding the Essentials, combines different aspects of scientific information from a variety of fields, such as anatomy, histopathology, molecular biology, electron microscopy and other diagnostic modalities. Each chapter will include pearls and summary points, and this multi-disciplinary approach helps the clinician diagnose and treat the large variety of diseases that affect the iris, with the main emphasize on pigmentary pathological changes that can affect the color of the eye.Written as a reference review book for universities, practicing ophthalmologists, Ophthalmology residents, pharmaceutical companies and diagnostic equipment manufacturing companies this book summarizes the information in an easy-to-use manner to help the reader better understand the iris, iris structure, physiology and function.

⭐Well written, easy reading. Covers the essentials of a base exam. Written by an Ophthalmic Technician as opposed to a Doctor. Great book but a little pricey.

⭐Easy to follow and helps u learn terminology

⭐Very basic, easy to read

⭐I’m impressed with this book! I had ordered an expensive book through Amazon, this exceeds my expectations. Simplified for the amateur.

⭐I work as a tech in a comprehensive ophthalmology clinic and this book has become popular and handy love the pictures easy to understand and read

⭐Bought this book as a required read for school and it’s quickly become a priceless tool for writing reports and quickly looking up easy, accurate descriptions of eye conditions. I only wish it was longer… Hopefully there will be a sequel!

⭐Very Helpful!

⭐Easy to read, but minimal information. Very little about posterior vitreous detachment and nothing about Weiss ring. This was a waste of money.

⭐I do not know how good this book is because I have ordered it twice through different sellers and received a defective book. The cover is The Little Eye Book, but the contents is LINQ programming.I hope that the defective issues can be identified and removed from sale.
