This outstanding text begins with reasonable, practical study preparation … and then goes on to the reasonable, practical study methods [and] the practical management of the wide range of illness that a prudent Board Certified Internist might well be reasonably expected to recognize and then provide reasonable and prudent primary healthcare … I plan to reasonably recommend this outstanding text to all of my/our student candidates for our … our U.S.M.L.E. Step 3 as well as all of my/our resident candidates for Certification/Recertification by our American Board of Internal Medicine {our A.B.I.M.}. [PDF] Handbook of Practical Fine Needle Aspiration and Small Tissue Biopsies (2018) by Fan Lin

Ebook Info

  • Published:
  • Number of pages:
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 75.09 MB
  • Authors: Fan Lin

Description

This handbook has been designed to provide a comprehensive and state-of-the art review and update of the major issues and challenges specific to fine needle aspiration (FNA) and small tissue core biopsies, which have emerged as primary modalities in establishing a definitive cancer diagnosis in the field of anatomic pathology, both in the U.S. and worldwide. Making an accurate diagnosis from a limited sample can be quite challenging yet crucial to patient care. The handbook, using the most current and evidence-based resources, will 1) emphasize a triple test (clinical, radiologic, and cytologic/histologic correlation); 2) stress the importance of cellblock preparation/small tissue core biopsy in modern cytopathology; 3) include over 100 diagnostic immunostaining panels/tables to address the utility and importance of ancillary studies; 4) incorporate relevant FISH and molecular tests into each chapter; and 5) summarize the pearls and pitfalls of FNA/small tissue biopsies at the beginning of each chapter. The book also includes highly practical presentations of typical case scenarios seen in an anatomic pathology laboratory. These are in the form of case presentations with step-by-step expert analysis. Sample cases include common but challenging situations, such as work-up of a tumor of unknown origin, evaluation of well-differentiated malignant tumors vs. benign/reactive lesions, identification of newly described tumor entities, and implementation of best practice in immunohistochemistry and molecular testing in a difficult case.

Great dermatology review. Great source of reference. Great organization. Wish it could be consolidated to 500 pages…I think that’s the standard in dermatology….it appears that lines are wasted to save the outline look..that too appears to be the standard in other dermatology book…OMG…why is that word alone…the outline look is great but you dont need conjunctions or rather you need a professional stenographer that knows how to consolidate a sentence. Lets keep it cute…to SAVE….Too Funky…by George Michael….obviously of…Freedom…we aint talking about….same singer.

Description

Pathology is a rapidly expanding and ever changing field which forms the foundation for understanding diseases. Undergraduates can find it difficult to revise all aspects of the subject due its breadth.Exam Prepatory Manual for Undergraduates: General & Systemic Pathologyprovides basic pathological information in a nutshell.

There’s a bif of a gap in the market for cardiology KBA preparation books, which this book goes some way towards filling. Answers are concise enough that you don’t get bogged down in detail, but give enough to help clarify why you chose right (or wrong), or to highlight areas that need further study. I find practice MCQs with supplementary study one of the best ways to learn so overall I would recommend.
