This spectacularly illustrated volume in the masterwork known as the (CIBA) “Green Books” has been expanded and revised by Dr. Joseph Iannotti, Dr. Richard Parker, and other experts from the Cleveland Clinic to mirror the many exciting advances in musculoskeletal medicine and imaging – offering rich insights into the anatomy, physiology, and clinical conditions of the spine; pelvis, hip, and thigh; knee; lower leg; and ankle and foot.

Reviews

Really nice concise intro to cell & molecular biology and at the same time a review. It’s great for engineers who are willing to delve into these and related subjects but are scared of the large volumes of other books.

Description

Here’s a rich pictorial review of normal and abnormal human prenatal development. For each body system or region, you’ll find a brief description of the developmental plan, with key concepts and terminology, followed by discussions of histological principles, the classification of congenital defects, and basic cellular, molecular, and genetic concepts. An emphasis on morphological patterns in the embryo and fetus makes it easy to understand the structure and function of the adult body and the embryonic basis of birth defects.

Reviews

The knowledge gotten across is decent but I also feel a lot of the particular genetic disorders given were not talked about in my class and a lot of the disorders talked about in class were not in here. In the other Road Map books, there has been a lot more overlap between lecture and review book.

All in all, I got more out of the genetic sections in the other Road Map books than the official USMLE Road Map Genetics book. This book does have great illustrations for pedigrees and decent summaries. It will give you the majority of info you need. But I’d also argue it gives you too much information for a review book.

I have used NMS medicine since 1991 to study for boards (as a PA I take boards every 6 years) and have always found it to be outstanding (and I’ve always scored highly on boards). This version has A LOT online and if you buy it used you can’t access the online content (unless you use the previous owners codes, which I can’t access). I called tech support for LWW and it was “sorry we can’t help” so I will either have to buy a new version or go with information gaps. Not pleased!!!

Nice book and easy to read. However, it uses European/Indian brand drug names. Makes it fairly un-useful for US based students.
