Description

This book focuses on the emerging non-invasive imaging technique of Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Ophthalmoscopy (FLIO). FLIO reveals unique information on retinal diseases, ranging from age-related macular degeneration and vascular diseases to hereditary retinal dystrophies. Fluorescence lifetimes enable the evaluation of disease progression before irreversible structural changes occur. The image acquisition is suitable for diagnostic purposes and follow-up examinations to investigate the natural course of disease, and to monitor the effects of possible therapies. This book fills the gap between available literature and gives state-of-the-art guidance on the principles of the FLIO technique, image acquisition, and data analysis. Written by a team of expert leaders within this field, this book will be relevant for scientists and clinicians with an interest in ophthalmoscopy.

  • Number of pages: 231 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 16.29 MB

Description

There have been books over the years discussing the history of ophthalmology, but none that focus directly on just the most critical thinkers whose insights provided the foundation for the discipline. These men and women advanced knowledge about vision, diagnosis, disease mechanisms, and therapy through innovative thinking and perseverance against old ideas. Their stories are intriguing at a personal level and for showing the complexity of advancing medical science and, therefore, should be required reading for anyone practicing ophthalmology. Foundations of Ophthalmology includes giants such as Young (the nature of color and light), Braille (a practical reading system for the blind), Helmholtz (development of the ophthalmoscope), von Graefe (defining glaucoma), Curie (discovery of radiation and the basis of radiation therapy), Gonin (demonstration how to cure retinal detachment), Ridley (serendipity that led to intraocular lenses), andKelman (development of phacoemulsification that revolutionized cataract surgery).

⭐the most valuable review book for part 1 exams … you will never regret getting this book if you are a trainee in ophthalmology .. i got it to my friend as well. it will guide you to focus your knowledge and test your understanding of basic sciences. do not be surprised if some of its questions appeared in your exams as it is common questions dear doctors.

⭐Using it to study for the FRCOphth part 1. Well written and succinct answers. Would recommend!

⭐Absolutely essential for revision. The thing I’ve found with the most coherent and comprehensive explanations.Great that is has CRQs…I don’t think you can draw out the elkington diagrams enough. This also shows you random diagrams straight out of Kanski appear.

⭐It shall be a suggested reading for Ophth.trainees applying for part1 FRCOphh. That said, it may require some other comprehensive referrences for the exam.

⭐Product arrivedNicely packedIn immaculate conditionBig Thumbs Up from me

⭐great set of 450 questions for FRCOphth II…

⭐Pretty good for Frcopth part 2 and Febo exam preparation. The only drawback is that several questions focus on very uncommon diseases.

⭐Considering there are very few up-to-date books available that are dedicated to the new-format Part 2, this book fills in a much-needed gap for current trainees. The questions are well-structured in a way that typifies the actual MCQs in the Part 2, and give a fairly good sense of the clinical, basic-science and ethics/medical practice type questions. There is a good balance of questions testing both clinical reasoning and book knowledge. Clear explanations provided are helpful in addressing “blind spots”Definitely a must-have for the exam preparations

⭐This book is good in terms of quality of questions but it has only a few question papers and answers. More of revision material than comprehensive notes for part 2.

⭐This book is very well written with well researched explanations. Having passed the Frcophth 2 at my first attempt I find this book closely mimicks the style of questions and content of the exam. This book is a must buy.
