⭐It an easy and quick read, good for starter but not enough. Covers common possible eye problems you may face in a primary care setting , great for students and residents who are thinking to chose primary care as future path. May not be enough for young PCPs. It has great pictures.

⭐I am really glad I purchased this book. I am a student FNP and this book has photos and also describes what to look for in your exam. Definitely highly recommend!

⭐I am a family physician and wanted something to reference for opthomology visits. I like, but don’t love this book. The information in there, and is current and accurate, but its not always easy to find. Very good pics. Overall, a useful book.

⭐i bought this book during residency, recommended by a collegue of mine who is an opthamologist.great book, use it as a reference all the time.

⭐This book provides much incite into Opthalmology. As a current student at the University of Arizona, I can personally say that this book has helped me in ways too legion to count. My professer uses the book as a guide and tells us to refer to it when we have questions, outside of class.

Primary Retinal Detachment: Options for Repair 1st Edition (2005) by Ingrid Kreissig PDF

Ebook Info

  • Published: 2005
  • Number of pages: 226 pages
  • Format: PDF
  • File Size: 5.95 MB
  • Authors: Ingrid Kreissig

Description

This information-packed volume is the ultimate guide for today’s vitreo-retinal surgeon. It is written by leading experts in the field. The book begins with an extensive review, analyzing the evolution of present-day detachment surgery over the past 70 years. Here, a changing pattern of treatment modalities comes into view, with four primary procedures in use at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Experts in the field of retinal and vitreous surgery then describe the following surgical techniques: cerclage with drainage, pneumatic retinopexy, primary vitrectomy, and minimal segmental buckling without drainage. The advantages and disadvantages of each technique are assessed in relation to case selection, single operation attachment, final attachment, complications, visual function, and cost effectiveness. The techniques are then compared with each other. The volume continues with a description of the use of modern adjuvant pharmacotherapy (intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide, anti-metabolites, fluorouracil, daunorubicin, heparin, etc.) to improve the surgical and functional outcome of these techniques. Finally, in the chapter entitled ‘Outlook for the Future,’ new imaging techniques (ballistic light imaging, refined ultrasonography, wide angle pseudo color SLO, etc.) and anti-proliferative drugs are discussed. Ophthalmologists, fellows in retinal and vitreous surgery, and students and residents will find this book essential for diagnosing and repairing a primary retinal detachment.

Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Agree that this book is a very concise review of scleral buckles for retinal detachment repair. Some of the historical information was very interesting but overall this book is somewhat out of date. The authors are advocates for the use of buckles and radial segments, thus, there is very little discussion about vitrectomy. While interesting, this book is not detailed enough to live up to it’s title, and the emphasis on buckles seems out of date. There are better sources out there for less money.

⭐This is an extraordinary textbook. It lists every type of imaging modality used in ophthalmology and optometry, and devotes a succinct chapter to each one. The book is very practical with dozens of real-life examples and cases. For instance, they dedicate a chapter to OCT as it relates to the retina as well as it relates to the optic nerve. Similarly, they separately emphasize ultrasonography as it applies to retina, oculoplastics, and biometry for cataract surgery. It is a must-have for all eye-care professionals, especially those in training, residency, and fellowship. It makes the learning curve significantly easier and is helpful for the boards. Overall, I highly recommend this book and am very pleased with my purchase.

⭐This book is truly outstanding. As an ophthalmology resident at a top program, it made my transition to residency so much easier and gave me a much better comprehension and mastery of eye imaging than most residents. Rather than being esoteric and technical, this book is very practical and replete with illustrated examples. This book is a must-have for every ophthalmologist and optometrist, especially those in training.

⭐I have been in practice for many years and have found this to be by far the best textbook on ophthalmic imaging. It is concise, clear, and expertly illustrates ocular imaging with dozens of examples and amazing legends. There was a need for a book just like this. All my rotating residents read and love it.
